View Full Version : I now am officially anti-Warclaidhm

I had never really dealt with Warclaidhm before, and I'd given some people a hard time for being too rough on him. I officially apologize for that. The beginning of the log is heavily edited because it was outside the gate while everyone was waiting for the dragon to show up. I play my companion as having a mind of his own, I never tell him to attack, he just does what he feels like, that's why I hid when I told him to attack. Anyway, why he would attack my companion is beyond me, and then the way he acted afterwards makes me want to pull my hair out.

You see Svardin turn his head in your direction as you hide.
You attempt to blend with the surroundings, and feel somewhat sure that no one has noticed your doing so.

>unhide
You do not believe anyone noticed you slip out of hiding.

>A pure white sparrowhawk lunges his head forward in an attempt to impale Warclaidhm's left leg on his beak. Warclaidhm yanks his leg out of the way at the last instant!

>Warclaidhm says, "Ow."

You are standing at the northwest corner of the Landing. The path, which bends to the northeast as it moves along this section of the western wall of the fortified trading post. To the west can be seen a dark forest while to the south can be seen a rolling plain of high grasses. You also see a pure white sparrowhawk that is flying around, some light leather, a wooden shield, a short sword, a horned frog that is sitting, a wooden shield, some light leather and a cobblestoned trail leading to a wooded glade.
Also here: Cruull, Great Lord Warclaidhm, Faeryfire
Obvious paths: northeast, south, west
>l sparr
You see a fairly typical pure white sparrowhawk.
It appears to be in good shape.
It appears to be frozen in place.
It has nothing at this time.

Warclaidhm sighs.

>A pure white sparrowhawk drops like a rock to the ground with a *THUD*.

Warclaidhm swings a feras mattock at a pure white sparrowhawk!

The pure white sparrowhawk screeches loudly as he cradles his mangled right wing!
The pure white sparrowhawk is stunned!
*** As the blow lands, the feras mattock unleashes a severe smiting of lightning!

Hideously bright electrical bolt sends left leg into another universe. Happy traveling.

Warclaidhm becomes solid again.
Warclaidhm appears less confident.

You are no longer moving silently.
You feel the inner strength leave you.
You feel your extra strength departing.
The bright luminescence fades from around you.
The air about you stops shimmering.
You return to normal color.
The deep blue glow leaves you.
The light blue glow leaves you.
The buzz of thoughts in your mind subsides.

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...

You realize that you have no outstanding favors which Lorminstra owes you, and without having accomplished a deed for Her, your soul is in danger of vanishing from the land forever!

The ghostly voice of Warclaidhm says, "I didnt know they were killable." And that's why you swung twice

>Cruull says, "I kill ya every day."

We both get fogged to Voln, Warclaidhm gets raised:

Warclaidhm asks, "Since when were companions killable?"

Warclaidhm says, "Just came back after a year."

Warclaidhm says, "Thought it was a dragon." I thought it was a sparrow?

You exclaim, "Roland is a sparrowhawk you pea-brained moron!"

Warclaidhm says, "It was a mistake."

Warclaidhm says, "And a dumb animal to boot."

You say, "You are truly an idiot."

Warclaidhm asks, "Is that a threat?"

Who's the Cruull fool who involved himself?

I'd have killed him, too, Drew! That was needless and stupid! Then, he tries to pretend he didn't know what he was doing. That makes it even worse. He knew it was a sparrow, and he knew it was your companion. He makes that very clear.

Sheesh, Warclaidhm! Will you never learn anything?

Heh. Yeah, no kidding! Had my ranger had to witness a beloved companion dragging itself away while leaving a trail of blood behind it, there would have been hell to pay! Of course, I'd have to be able to see through the tears, but I'm sure I could work it out. :(

I think I'm glad I quit before all this came along. I don't think I could live with myself if my character's companion was slaughtered and I couldn't protect it.

I would kill him on sight for ever if he killed my companion.
I mean you did fuck up by telling him to attack because apart from you being stunned, that would be the only time the companion is killable, but that sure as hell doesnt give anyone the right to swing for him. Fucker.
I had been so on the fence unti this point but seeing that happen make me - the player - hate him.
Fucking idiots dont realise the work that goes into those creatures.

AFAIK it will be a couple of days or so afore he comes back and the afinity hit probably wont be too harsh (fingers crossed for you).

Seriously though, kill him on sight.

10-17-2004, 12:18 PM
I remember killing somebody in town once for kicking the kitten. I know they're only lines of text, I know you really can't hurt them... But somebody that would kill an animal, particularly a pet/companion, even in a text game... Really, how much lower can one sink? (And I never met Warclaidhm, never interacted with him and never had an opinion about him.)

Hell, my character cringed every time she hunted non-undead, and would only kill things like bears and boars and such if they attacked her group first.

That's some retarded logic. Of course he has a right to swing at the bird, it'd be ludicrous to tell your companion to attack someone, and NOT expect some kind of violent reaction.

Valuable lesson learned for Drew.

Nieninque
10-17-2004, 12:34 PM
The fucked-upness is in your ability to read through and make sense of a whole thread.
The log in the first post shows that Warclaidhm attacked the sparrowhawk first and then Chiv told the sparrowhawk to attack.
I would say that the lesson he should learn would be instead of typing :
tell companion attack Warclaidhm
he should have typed:
616 Warclaidhm

Well, keep in mind he attacked it first, plus the bird wasn't in attack mode when he killed it. You'll note that I had it attack once just as a warning and then told it to move, once it was out of attack mode it's back flying and no one can swing at it. He had to have someone bind or sleep the bird to get it to fall like that (take a look at when I looked at it, it's frozen in place).

Once again, keep in mind he attacked the bird first.

Reread the log, Tea. Warclaidhm said he wanted to kill the sparrow (he thought it was a dragon....yeah, riiiiiight!), then bellowed at it. At that point, Drew had the sparrow peck at Warclaidhm, which makes sense, since doofus had bellowed at the bird. Drew then sent the bird away and Warclaidhm went after it.

The fault here was entirely Warclaidhm's. He was the aggressor, not the sparrow.

I gotcha, it was still in attack mode, and he bound it via warcry as far as I can tell from the log. I'm just saying that if you use your companion to attack someone, you shouldn't be surprised if it's attacked in turn.

So I have Kaladriel resting in Town Center, getting ready to go out hunting, when Warclaidhm shows up. Note that Kaladriel has had no I/C interaction with Warclaidhm, so he was neutral to this guy at the start.

Warclaidhm comes in and sees my companion, a "dusky snow-owl". He looks around, asking, "Who's bird is that?", then bellows it, scaring the poor thing away.

Words were exchanged and then the idiot whispers to me, "Kinda attached to it, huh?"... which was insulting in an IC (of course he fuckin cares about that owl, it only took 30 trains and god knows how many salted peanuts to get it to like him) and OOC (why the fuck does this guy insult me anyway?) level.

Fucking idiot. Stalked him to a pub table where he sat with a wizard, probably getting spells. Was going to spirit dispell his ass for shits and giggles when he came out, but had some out-of-game issues to attend to.

What a moron.

You cant swing at a companion that isnt in attack mode.

What you needed to do in between telling it to attack and telling it to scout was tell it to CEASE.
That would have taken it from attack mode into "cant touch dis" mode.

Also, binding a companion wouldnt push it into attack mode.

It was frozen into immobility after the dickhead warcried it, which is why it was frozen in place.

For Chaosmongler: You fed your snow-owl on peanuts? Shameful! ;)

Harmnone: I think the afinity drops but someone posted here that it drops a couple of notches but not all the way down. I dont personally know anyone who has had to deal with this, although there was a ranger in illistim that had a wolfhound I think and had it mangled by ithzir, but I cant remember his name. Yes, that episode today with Warclaidhm stealing Orsylk's warhammer was galling. Even more so was when Warclaidhm whined afterwards about losing two friends (Orsylk and Zar-something, who apparently objected to the weapon-stealing) over the whole thing. He claimed it was just a joke, when it took calling in a GM to get him to give it back.

<< Figured you'd follow the bandwagon soon enough. >>

There would not be a bandwagon if you would attempt to play differently.

More than one person has suggested to you that rerolling is a good option and I agree, your Warclaid character just has too much baggage attached.

With XXX it is not hard to get levels either.

:D

P.S. It is the character I dislike, I do not know the player.

I aint on no bandwagon, Snowy has only interacted with Warclaidhm once and thought he was an idiot then. Nothing she would dislike him for, just she would edge away from him if she ever saw him coming. Kinda like the loony that always singles you out on the bus and comes and sits next to you.

I would say, though, that Drew's log sickened me to the bottom of my stomach. I cant believe that you attacked and killed his companion. That was the lowest.

Someone threatened to kill my companion in the past and I was petrified for him. How fucking dare they. And how fucking dare you. You make your bed...

Warclaidhm will never retire that character.. that character is everything he wants and desires out of Gemstone.. notoriety and attention. Something he is obviously missing in his real life.

Two things, really. They're called testicles.

No.

He gets attention, Park is right.

He has no attention in real life, his parents do not care about him since too long ago.

He gets bad attention, and for a sick kid, it's 100 times better than none.

And don't forget the "sympathy" attention.

OK I've kinda kept out of the bashing Warclaidhm post up till now. I don't really know him all that well but from having read posts here, comments, quotes etc it just seems that the kid irl has some kinda problem, I don't really understand why everyone picks on him, (maybe to boost their own self image).

He (The player) has issues, why does everyone have to react so cruelly to him, I kinda agree with Alleycat to an extent and will adopt the ugly kitty simply because no one else will want it (This however does not apply to Hevinsbane who I do find irritating in game).

As for in game....... Well Eiderfleur hasnt really had many interactions with Warclaidhm except for him asking for spells (which, I'll admit, it does get on my tits when high level warriors ask for spells just to able to go hunt, if you constantly need spells to be able to hunt then you need to rethink your training program.)

I dunno, I guess I just feel sorry for him, he seems to act/speak before he thinks, but, maybe I just havent "experienced" him the way others have.

Yes the Animal Companion log was awful and I just sat here thinking OMG WTF ?!?!

LOL

He's just annoying but I do what everyone else should do regards Warclaidhm - I stay as far away from him as I possibly can. End of story.

His obsession with Ardwen is a little worrying but it means he looks up to him. He's young he probably doesn't know better.

Do you think he beats off thinking about Ardwen?

LOL Maimara that's gross lol

And yes PB I haven't had much interaction with him but from the few times I've been in the same room as Warclaidhm I can easily say I'd rather hang around with him for a full day than hang around with Hevinsbane.

At least I can understand what Warclaidhm is talking about which is something I can't really say about Hevinsbane.

Its very simple for me.

Does Warclaidhm have attention seeking issues? Yes
Does he know he has attention seeking issues? Yes
Is Warclaidhm trying to fix this? Yes

Does the player have some problems? Yes
Does the player know he has problems? Yes
Is the player trying to fix this? Yes

Is either one of these things any of my business? No

Should I still laugh at everything he does that is funny? HELL YES
