New blood?

I'm wondering how many actually new players GS adds in a year and how they find out about the game? Does anyone have some anecdotes?

When I used to be a mentor, about 2 years ago, I'd personally see 1 or 2 brand new folks a month in the Manor courtyards. Most of them didn't seem to stick around for a while after, but a few did.

I was never a mentor so I have less a chance, but I've never personally seen one. I think Catts (a poster here) was a brand new player a couple years ago, but he may have jumped ship or gotten too busy IRL.

He was. I welcomed him to the game. I believe he said his dad used to play or something. I think he quit though.

If you basically live in Teras though, you won't ever see one. I think the biggest thing with them, is most of them aren't very out going. They are a little.. shy.. I guess. So they get bored and leave. Catts was pretty outgoing so he stuck around for a bit.

So yeah, most people won't realize there is a total n00b sitting right beside them, because they just don't feel it is right to speak or whatever.
