This armor has been designed to provide mechanical benefit to members of the Order of Voln. Some FLUFF verb traps are available to non-members, but unique abilties are bestowed ONLY on members. Due to its nature, the blue leather will repel anyone converted to Luukos who attempts to touch it, as well as preventing usage to anyone wearing or holding Shadow Death, Black Ora Jewelry, or Rapture Cloak items. Furthermore, it CANNOT be ensorcelled, which is by design.

The blue leather is currently TIER 4 which contributes 15 Gear Points to the armor, and has the following options available:

*** NON-VOLN, and VOLN MEMBERS ***
Fluff: BOW, TAP, STARE, CLUTCH, and KNEEL

*** VOLN-MEMBERS ONLY ***
Fluff: PUSH, EXHALE, and DRAW(1x/week)

Tier 1 (Off-the-Shelf)
* DS Flares against undead. Base chance to flare for Voln Members is 15%. Additional 5% chance granted to Voln Masters. Additional 5% chance granted to individuals converted to Voln. The amount of DS applied is equal to armor enchant, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 50.
* Handful of fluff verb traps. The fluff verbs that come with this tier are available to non-Volny types and Voln members alike.

Tier 2
* Automatic Symbol Of Need upon death (AutoNeed), at half the normal favor cost. Must actually know the Symbol in order to activate. Can be toggled on/off.
* Passive +10 Shear Fear resist against undead.
* Verb to toggle AutoNeed on/off. Available to Voln members only.
* Fluff verb trap, available to any. (Except you pesky Luukos people - get your own armor!)

Tier 3
* Phantom critical padding to augment 'standard' DS flare. If the flare fires but the DS boost isn't enough to prevent the attack from going through, it will go through with phantom critical padding in place. Amount of padding equal to half armor enchant, minimum of 5 maximum of 25.
* Locate nearby undead ability, nominal favor cost.
* More fluff verbs! (Available to members of the Order of Voln only)

Tier 4 (Auction Quality)
* Additional passive +10 Shear Fear resist against undead.
* 2x/day Symbol of Return that works while stunned/immobile/webbed. Full favor cost. Must already know Symbol of Return.
* MOAR FLUFF

T4 armor allows you to hunt the south scatter without using lichbane. That alone makes it worth the price.

Seems I remembered the enchant incorrectly. These are 6x, so I will knock 5m off the price. There is zero barrier to enchanting voln armor.

From Krakiipedia:

600 points surcharge for the flare portion
1000 for the resistance to shear fear.
1500 for padding from flare
600 points for the non-fluff script (the other functional aspects that do not incur their own surcharge).
Surcharge for T4 Voln armor would be 3700 points

Did you actually get this surcharge when you tried to enchant a set with PPs? I'm having a hard time imagining these would be viewed as cumulative, but I suppose anything is possible It seems unreasonable.

They are cumulative.

These charges would vary for other based on enchant and tier. Enchant would set the padding surcharge due to the way the scripts calculates it tier and sheer fear is extra for T2 and and higher.

It's the reason the overall event approvals for nearly any decent item are so strict and I imagine the only way they justified allowing Sadie to work on higher end gear.

I agree it shouldn't be that high, it is an involved script but - craziness!

The merchant's last response was: It would cost 7900 Premium Points to add padding to this armor. This is calculated from a base cost of 4200 for the padding, 600 for flares, 600 for the Voln script itself, 1500 for existing padding, and 1000 points for resistance. I agree it's pretty harsh, but I think Roblar is right. These armors offer incredible benefits and they want the cost to reflect that. I think they could have toned down the padding part a lot since its a flare on a flare.

I remember the whole voln surcharge debacle during RTCF/CCF. =(. All the piecemeal surcharges are ridiculous.

Charging full price for a flare that only happens when another flare fails (so maybe 1 in 20 attacks is absurd). Honestly, most of what they've dinging you for is really petty in this case. Voln T4 is nice, but there are far more powerful scripts that only get the base script charge. Lame.

Not sure why you're getting a resistance charge here. When I checked on a set of T4 Voln armor that was 8x, PP price to pad was not as high as quote you were given even.
