In the discussion on the officials about how Savants aren't even on the radar, Estild did list the current working draft of the NAMES of the major mental and savant lists.

Overall, it's true that Savants aren't needed. But in reality, no profession outside of the RPG trinity (Warrior, Cleric, Wizard) are really needed. You can design most, if not all, of the different character build options under those three professions. Regardless of that, most people prefer to hear about a game that has 10 professions instead of 3. Having already designed the Major Mental and Savant spell circles, I am really excited about Savants. However, it's difficult to justify the resource time to development them when there are so many other projects we need to complete (more hunting grounds, Elemental Lore Review, etc). I do think Savants will eventually happen, just not in the near future. I'll leave you with this:

Major Mental spell circle:
Pacify (1301)
Sense Mind (1302)
Clear Sight (1303)
Dolor (1304)
Grim Omen (1305)
Illusionary Decoy (1306)
Vision Link (1307)
Sequester (1308)
Mind Block (1309)
Seer's Shroud (1310)
Phantasm (1311)
Harmony (1312)
Arcane Translation (1313)
Dominate (1314)
Comprehend Language (1315)
Mental Hemorrhage (1316)
Revelation (1317)
Mind Flay (1318)
Mindwall (1319)
Thought Web (1320)
Scry (1325)
Mental Nullification (1330)
Mind Control (1340)

Savant spell circle:
Force Barrier (1401)
Searing Cloak (1402)
Thoughtward (1403)
Combust (1404)
Grow/Shrink (1405)
Telekinetic Disarm (1406)
Body Control (1407)
Astral Spear (1408)

I see things that could potentially shut down other casters. This makes me wonder, is this going to be like a Monk in reverse?

To be seen. I'm referring more to the concept that they'd be magically untouchable while melee is their bane. I hope that's not the case.

This isn't NEARLY as terrible as it sounds. Sitting in guarded stance will be extremely high defense anyways. Pair that with high enchant armor/shield/DB and you're set no matter how shitty the class is. Even at cap fighting shit with 500 AS.

Hey that's not totally fair, they've done a lot of coding for Savants in game. Look:

Only a Cleric, Empath or Savant has the natural ability to gain true benefits from meditating.

You don't just code that in overnight, pal!

Indeed. Now the REALLY interesting part is if they deliver on these magical shutdown abilities. Mental Nullification sounds particularly vicious in and of itself.

Maybe they're fucking with everyone and savants will be out next week.

Maybe not.

I said the same thing. God, i fucking loved that spell. I might go savant just to have it again, in 20 years.

Silly. You think Simutronics will still exist in 20 years.

Searing Cloak is likely a player friendly version of Flaming Aura.

We may have to convert our wizards to Savants... followed by immediate and unrelenting regret like everyone that has ever converted to anything before.

Wasn't that like... 919 or something? I forget what it did. Threw your target's weapon on the ground with RT? One of the OG trolling spells.

Silly. You think Simutronics will still exist in 20 years.

Hard to say. They've survived this long by doubling down on the percentage of their customer base that will never, ever leave. But in another 20 years a good portion of us will be in danger of literally dying of old age.

I'd convert my monk. Dude was originally a warrior, converted to a paladin, then monk, and now this.. his final form!

Telekinetic Disarm... and reaching into the vault here... was 519 before immolation

Yup, 100% 519. If you had an empty hand, it came into your hand. If you didn't (which you never did in combat the time, because sword and board for everyone!) it went to the ground.

519 Telekinetic Disarm Duration: Instantaneous TKDISARM
This spell enables the caster to shape mana into a physical force. By merely concentrating on a victim, the air will harden around its weapon or shield and tear it from the victim's hands if it fails a spiritual warding. If the caster has an empty hand, the force will conveniently place it there. Otherwise, the item will be torn to the ground. This spell is ideal for peaceful wizards who still wish to defend themselves*

*or for completely emasculating lowbies who are threatening people.

Don't forget (hah!) the new spell they made for sorcerers, you know, to pave the way for Savants.

Yeah. Or it sounds like mass dispel version 3.

Pretty much exactly like the cleric professional circle. 5 versions of hold and smite undead. It was almost as gratiutious as the empath circle, except their spells all had a more reasonable conceptual function than "this shit don't work because it's too high level to be affected by the third version of this spell".

Maybe in another 10 years.

But seriously though, you can kinda see the theme here, and how some of these might be intended to mirror spells from other circles. Like Clear Sight 1303 probably functions like the ranger spell foraging, just with maybe searching instead.

I took it to be a fix for "Blind" effects. Like how minor mental has soothing word for frenzies

No. There are no Savants to have given anything to and there may never be. They just took it from Wizards. I want to say we lost those spells as part of 'growing pains' back in like 2003. It's 2015 and those spells are no longer a part of the game.
