So I have a "full-length mage's cloak trimmed with archaic runes".

It's 8lbs, holds exceptional, and can be further lightened/deepened.

Is it at all possible to get this to 5 lbs and hold at least a huge amount? I'd like to know before I ask a merchant to lighten it and it ends up getting to 6 and becomes max l/d and it's still at exceptional.

Could I ASSIST to have a GM look at it for me to let me know before I do anything? Or would I just need to ask whatever merchant was doing the lightening/deepening first to see what they thought? Not sure if ASSISTing is proper in that scenario or not.

Also, it's not an issue that it's a "mage's cloak", is it? Meaning a GM wouldn't get it and say "hmmm, mage's cloak isn't allowed, I have to change it now...". Analyze says it's free from merchant restrictions.

Would it be best to have lightened down as much as 1 level just before being max l/d for it's current capacity, then look to have it epic deepened, or just deepened? If getting it epic deepened means I have to pay $300 to attend an RtCF type of deal, then I'm not going to do that anyway.

You can get it to 6/140 at best. Some cloaks do not go to those numbers, but those are the best numbers it CAN go to. No need to assist, just keep deepening it. Once maxed, it should lighten twice to end the project.

Good luck.

They won't change the name. But don't get 'mage's cloak' altered off, because they will not put it back.

Do not lighten it to 6 before deepening. Bunches of containers do not allow for maxed deepening after it's lightened to what the max is. Ends meeting ends and all that. Some don't fit that way.

Deepen to max, Lighten to max, Epic deepen at next awesome event. Yes, epic deepening means you will have to pay like 300 bucks in attending and buying a service or winning a service, fluctuating with what you win/purchase.

And nobody, yet, does epic lightening. So you're stuck at 6lbs.

Good luck!

Not resurrecting per se, but just wanted to clarify JW's remarks: Just because you get something max light/deep now, doesn't prevent you from getting it epic deepened in the future should you be lucky enough to win that service?

Correct, the new limit is deeper then what the max light/deep Inspect verb messaging shows prior to the work, so long as the capacity does not exceed the epic deep's service limit for the location worn

Here's some info on prior epic deep services/limits:
