So a halfling warrior has a -40 penalty when tackling a zombie. Is this because he's a halfling? Because he only has 1 rank of tackle? Because the zombie is "larger" than him? Is so does that mean the penalty is going to be even greater against a giant?

I can understand halflings having a penalty for certain things but -40?

I'd imagine size being the biggest factor in tackling so seeing a penalty like that for a halfling doesn't surprise me. Were you injured/scarred?

Definitely a size penalty. I'm not sure if 1 rank penalizes you but it certainly doesn't help.

Wasn't encumbered, no injuries, trained for his armor type.

I don't mind a penalty for halflings but I figured it would be against giants or something, unless zombies are considered giants for some reason.

Halflings are like 3 feet tall. You're going to have a penalty on pretty much anything you fight.

I think the penalty is a flat -40 for halflings.

Even against giant rats?! Even giant rats are larger than halflings? Or are rats so small that they can't even be tackled?

Halflings get screwed both ways :(

if you hate it so much why don't you quit

Try tackle on a gnome.

Why don't you!

Try tackle on a gnome.

Only a penalty of 20 against a gnome. Okay, now we're just getting silly. Why would a halfling have a harder time tackling someone their own size?

Tackle = pretty much only for defense. I wish the guild wasn't so tedious.

It's gonna have to be for a halfling warrior :/

I'm questioning whether there's enough people to make guild training worth it on mine.

Well I have a couple of dozen warriors running around.

That makes me wonder if anybody made any more guild scripts.

Let me know if you ever need a test victim for anything you can't multiaccount yourself.

Something that is probably hurting your chances is holding items in your hands, you get an additional -10 per item.

Really? Well shit. Tackle does seem pretty useless then. Don't see myself putting away my sword and shield to tackle something too often :/

Doesn't tackle have a higher than normal RT, too? I remember it being above 5, which is dumb.

Yup, tested it just now, 7 second round time which I failed the tackle and it put me into a kneeling position, with no weapon and shield out, plus being in offensive stance helps to successfully tackle too so yeah...

Stance offensive, kneeling, no weapon, no shield, 7 second roundtime, your enemy laughing at you.

Doesn't it put the target into long(er) RT as well? I thought ye olde GS trolle was to tackle someone, pull them up, tackle them again etc. like with ewave. Maybe they fixed that.

I think it depends how successful you are. I think if you fail the tackle the target doesn't even incur a RT while you do :/

Instead of creating another thread I'll just ask here; do flaring weapons have a chance to flare when you're attempting to disarm someone/something with said flaring weapon?

Fallen

The problem is a small but successful endroll won't put the target in more than 7 seconds of RT, so you actually have to have a decent success in order to be able to capitalize on the maneuver.

Alright got some more questions about the guild.

So far for disarm tasks I have seen:

Masters
Be disarmed by partner
Disarm partner
Disarm critters
Disarm wheel

Am I missing any?

Also what tackle tasks are there? Just critters, masters, tackle partner, be tackled by partner? Anything else?

Open up ;swar. Disarm, tricks, berserk are finished and will master you in each task. It has everything you need to know about the guild and you're a coder so I know you can read it. :D

There is a task to tackle dummies. I believe in the main room with the masters you go dummy or dummies, once inside you have to pull dummy to set it up(Which puts you into rt), tackle dummy, then stand. If I recall correctly you can fail to knock the dummy over, fail to pull it up in one go, and who knows what else. Maybe bother people with more recent experience or with logs of it.
