I messaged Tillmen a couple days ago and haven't heard back, I figure I will ask here:

I logged my character a couple days ago, everything looked normal, but I didn't have any scripts, favs, or anything. I can hear Lnet, but can't chat on it. When I type waggle, go2, chat etc. I get this message:

;waggle
Please rephrase that command.

So I read on this forum I am posting on to see if anyone has the same issue, I saw one that might be similiar, about a broken version of lich, so I downloaded that, and nothing. I also checked the servers and it was already on what was suggested. I went through the whole process of re-downloading lich step by step. For some reason when I try to drag the symbol to my home screen for my shortcut, it doesn't say shortcut on it, but its the same red ruby symbol as my old shortcut, but it doesn't work. I can't double click it, but when I right click it I have the option to open with 2 different ruby interpreters: 1.8.6 and 2.0.0p643. Only the second ruby number gets me into game, then I have this issue:

No Lnet, lich, nothing. I try to repo download something anything and get this:

>;waggle
--- Lich: could not find script 'waggle' in directory C:/Users/Christie/Desktop/scripts
>;repo download waggle
--- Lich: could not find script 'repo' in directory C:/Users/Christie/Desktop/scripts

Also, I did put things in the documents folder like it was suggested on the lich site, and I did download lich and everything that goes with it, several times, thinking I was missing something each time, so I have multiples of everything, and scared to delete anything now lol.

When I was able to get online, and could download everything again, waggle, voodoo, sorter etc. Those settings wouldn't be there next time I logged in. So, I am stuck. I hope its not a tough fix, and someone knows what I did wrong, I surely don't.

Thanks in advance!

When you get a response like "Please rephrase that command" from the game for a command starting with a semi-colon, it usually means Lich isn't running at all. And since you say you can hear lnet chats, that's pretty confusing. My guess would be that in this case you were using Lich 4.4 and Ruby 1.8 and also changed the Lich character from a semi-colon to something else in the options tab of the Lich window, like maybe your character name. If that's not it, I'm not sure what would cause that.

When you moved or copied lich.rbw to your desktop, you separated it from the scripts folder. Lich looks for scripts in a folder named "scripts" in the same place as lich.rbw. Since there was no scripts folder on your desktop, Lich created one, but there's no scripts in there.

To create a shortcut, you need to hold down the Alt key while you drag and drop. When you create a shortcut on your desktop, lich.rbw stays where it is. The shortcut just points to the actual location of lich.rbw somewhere in your documents folder, and the scripts folder can be found. You could also just find Lich in your documents folder and start it from there. Or you could leave lich.rbw on your desktop move your scripts to the scripts folder on your desktop.

You should probably uninstall Ruby 1.8.6. It won't work for Lich 4.6.

so I uninstalled the old Ruby, and re-installed the newer, younger, prettier version. It seems to be working ok, I just need to play with my aliases and favs again, no big deal...I am no computer guru, I only play one on TV, appreciate the help Tillmen.
