Ok, long story short, I have cable internet, and it started running like I had a 14.4 modem. I called, they sent a tech out next day and he checked the signals and said they were strong, maybe even too strong. He also mentioned that a signal thats too strong could cause a modem to fry, Im wondering if there's any truth to this. My modem did stop working, and it's not even 3 months old yet. (It's a Motorolla Sb 1500)
Could a signal thats too strong fry a modem? And if so, should my cable company be held responsible for it's replacement?

Yes. It could blow the output or input receiver.
And yes, it's entirely their responsibility to fix it.
Edit to clarify, it's entirely their responsibility to fix the cable lines, probably by putting some sort of dampener on it. They probably won't replace your modem, though you can make a strong case and bitch a whole bunch.

Thanks for the reply, but if I bitched I would be bitching at some poor girl sitting in a call center that probably has nothing to do with the company, and I wouldn't want to make her cry, or fuck up her day since *she* personally has nothing to do with the lines.
I was just wondering if I would be getting my hundred and ten bucks worth of modem back.
Thanks for the response and help!
