Amazon is allowing members to donate .5% of all purchases to your charity of choice. They have a selection of nearly 1 million charities from which to choose. I imagine any charity you guys support can be found on their list.

More info can be found here: http://smile.amazon.com/about

.5% isn't much, but why not give when it doesn't cost you a thing?

They're probably banking on most people forgetting to use it. Unless you actively use bookmarks, I imagine most will completely forget.

I've been using it for awhile now and am glad they do it though it isn't much. But like you said, it adds up a bit over time. Wish there was somewhere it would show how much you've donated so far. Maybe there is and I just haven't seen it. What I did notice is that it doesn't automatically go there, and also, if you use your cell phone app it doesn't go to Amazon Smile either. So, I usually load up stuff on the app, then switch over to the web browser and finalize the purchase.

Check out Project 5130 Ministries if you're looking to donate somewhere. It'd be appreciated and I've seen first-hand the work it does. Huge changes.

Eh. I've been using it for a while, when you go off the .smile part it'll ask you if you want to use it.

Been using Smile for an animal shelter I volunteer at. I like that Amazon will prompt me to view a page under Smile if i click an Amazon link, like from slickdeals.

Also check out tying your Kroger Plus account to a charity or organization.

Bumping this thread.

If you're planning on spending big on tomorrow's Prime Day, make sure to do so through your smile.amazon account. It doesn't cost you a dime.

You can also use a chrome/firefox extension to automatically redirect you to smile when you log in:

For Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/amazonsmileredirector/

For Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/smile-always/jgpmhnmjbhgkhpbgelalfpplebgfjmbf?hl=en

I forgot about Prime day. I hope the 55 gallon drums of lube and artisanal paperclips go back on sale.

Well, I have one TV for each room, one in the living room, one on the sun porch, and another for taking outside when I have crawfish boils. Probably going to get another for my outside shed. :/

If you have an Amazon Rewards Visa, use code VISA30 on any $150+ purchase for $30 off when using your card

So I went to buy a watch that I wouldn't have purchased otherwise without the $30 off and I enter the code and got an expiration notice. Customer service has given me $10 so far and may give me more. Girl on the phone said the email was absolutely misleading about the limitations of the offer.

I use this. I have my doubts as to whether it's legit, but as Fallen says it doesn't cost me anything so it's worth a shot.

I'm pretty sure Amazon is far too large of a company with way too much visibility for this to not be legit. There are some major charities on there, and I think they'd be pretty angry if their names were being used in vain and they weren't receiving a dime.

MAPS lists them as a donor in their reports. They don't contribute a ton of money, but its listed.

There's some questions about how well the Wounded Warrior Project manages its donations. According to their IRS forms, they now spend less than 60% of their income on their mission.

Not sure what Amazon does and does not support, but these are the resources I usually use when looking for good charities (I loaded up the military/veteran ones):

As for me, I back charity: water.

Amazon customer support chat told me some bullshit tonight that they're no longer doing price adjustments, and now I have to go through the actual return/repurchase that will cost them more money than just giving me the $10.

Seems odd for Amazon to pull shit like that.

Ditto. I've probably had over 300 transactions over the past year or 2 and have had to return a number of items. The only question was why did I want to return it. In fact, I've never actually had to talk to someone since the website makes it so easy.

I've had my very first bad experience from Amazon. Bought a book, it never shipped, then the order was cancelled and no one bothered to email me about it.
