We already have all kinds of system logs that are generated automatically when we change access, and add users and such, but we have to keep track of certain security tasks that we do on a monthly, quarterly, annul basis and we currently do this manually. Things like a quarterly audit of keys and access cards to the server room, and quarterly testing of the alarm system. I'm thinking that there is either already a software package out there or that I need to write something myself. Since I know there are a lot of techies around here, if you were going to write an app to do this, what software would you use (.net, etc.) and how would you go about it in broad terms? Here are the features I'm thinking would be essential:

A database that allows for adding various recurring tasks, with monthly, quarterly & annual time frames
Integration to create automatic Outlook calendar events, and reminders
Way to mark task complete and log date of completion and auditor name
Ability to create quick lists, probably Excel based showing all of the audit events for a particular time frame

Any insights would be appreciated. Or if you know of a product that already does essentially all of this, please let me know and I'll take a look at it.
