My mother in law actually had what I think is a fucking brilliant idea. Everyone who needs a license has to perform during free clinics to get licensed. Anyone can show up, and you have a bunch of health people ready and able to tend to you. Do a few weekends a year, get your license, and you're done.

This is the first time in the history of the earth we conceivably have a chance to prevent a cataclysmic event (asteroid impact, I imagine there is fuck all we can do about super volcanos) from taking place. Beyond that, research has shown that returns on investment into space exploration ranges anywhere from 10 to 1 to 15+ to 1 in terms of money spent. I feel strongly that our future of our species lies beyond the bounds of this planet.

Welfare people should be able to find plenty of time to look for jobs while doing community service (which is a brilliant requirement)

One policy I would add is that all criminals of serial nature and other crimes of extreme malicious/brutality (ie terrorists) are deported to an island for them to live out the rest of their lives on (there would be a naval blockade to ensure no one is retrieved).

I don't think I would go with a three strike rule. I would have 2 sets of laws, Major and minor. A major law broken = death. Minor law, mandatory community service for x amount of time.

I would require 2 years of civil service after HS. Doesn't have to be military, or even government directly. If you wanted to work at a soup kitchen, that would be fine.

Work towards alternate power for planes and choppers.

I strongly disagree. Human experimentation is horrifying. It's not pity for the guilty that makes me feel that way. It's just that I don't feel we should remake ourselves into monsters in order to punish those guilty of monstrous acts.
