Coming out soon.

I was moderately hyped, but with the revelation over the weekend that you can apparently complete the campaign in 5ish hours I became significantly less hyped. There are no multiplayer features and supposedly little/no replayability, so I would say my current hype is now at critical levels.

While Weerasuriya denied The Order, which leans heavily on interactive cutscenes and quick-time events as it blends third-person shooting, exploration and puzzle-solving with in-engine cinematics, can be completed in just a few hours, it is clear the game won't be considered long by anyone's standards.

But how long, exactly, had Ready at Dawn's tests shown The Order to be? Weerasuriya wouldn't reveal the average playthrough time, but he was willing to enter into the debate about it.

"Game length is important," he said. "Every game has to take its own time to tell its story. Some games can be short. Some games can be long. I still remember the first time I picked up Modern Warfare, I finished the campaign in about three-and-a-half or four hours. And it was fun because they made that campaign work for that because they had something else.

Can't really compare it to Modern Warfare since the replay value in that game is quite high through multiplayer and the spec op missions.

First game I was planning to buy since AC: Unity but it's tough to pay $60 for this even if the campaign is more like 10 - 12 hours on hard.

Looks like it is intensely Cutscene QTE heavy. Going to wait and see the reviews. I'll probably end up renting it from Redbox if I can beat it in 2-3 sessions.

The reviews are starting to come in. Kotaku says no, don't play it.

I've only seen one review that was 8/10, the rest were 5's and 6's.

Always a good thing to wait for reviews before getting a new, untested game or series. It looks like this is firmly in rental territory.

It's sitting at a 65 on metacritic. The problem is the game is likely worth you playing it through once. Just not paying 60+ dollars to do so, which is primarily how the ratings are based.

Wait for a big sale or rent. Should be worth your time, especially as it will only take about 6-8 hours to finish unless you're a completionist.

Definitely sounds like a rental game.

Apparently the only supernatural elements are two levels that can be completed in minutes. The only open world stealth is one area where you QTE to kill people.

Sounds awful and not at all what people were wooed with.

Shenmue was the only time QTEs were ever a good idea.

Yeah, that was really surprising. It's presented as a supernatural-steampunk-Ghost-Busters like game, but there are only a couple QTE boss battles and some werewolves that can knock you over. You fight humans for 95% of the game. They built this cool concept world but don't bother to explore it.

Are the humans you fight at least possessed by ghosts or something?

They are possessed by skeletons.

They are possessed by skeletons.

That's a scary thought. What if all humans became possessed by skeletons? How do you fight against something like that? We'd need to weaponize osteoporosis.

We'd need to weaponize osteoporosis.

lmao.

I was very let down by this game. It's like I'm watching a movie 80% of the time. If I wanted to play a movie-game I'd stick with the tell tale games. BTW, the GoT ones is soo good so far.
