I'm a devout devotee of Tonica' s and I use Goldflex rosin. Going to try Violino strings tomorrow for the first time and I bought matching rosin by pirastro just to see if there really is a difference between the two. Anyone else here play and want to weigh in?

You could get perfect strings made out of hemp but Big Catgut forced our government to outlaw it.

Apparently you are all uncultured cretins. I thought sure there would be at least one other white guy or oriental chick here somewhere.

Too hard to get the ball end to stay on and I'm not tying them anymore.

Edit: I mean, what?

That's all I got then. I haven't played the violin in like 25 years.

Piano > violin.

One may prefer another animal, but the lion is still king of the jungle.

I would have thought the shart repper would use only real gut strings.

Come on man... step up your game.

Speaking of catgut, why is it called catgut?!

Because it sounds more appealing than "strings".

Not the anus, the intestines

Catgut is a type of cord[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catgut#cite_note-1) that is prepared from the natural fibre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_fibre) found in the walls of animal intestines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intestine).[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catgut#cite_note-2) Usually sheep (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheep) or goat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goat) intestines are used, but it is occasionally made from the intestines of cattle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattle),[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catgut#cite_note-3) hogs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hog_(swine)), horses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse), mules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mule), or donkeys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donkey).[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] Despite its name, no cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat) intestines are used in catgut.

Wow that's gross. Think any poo makes it through the production process? I like to think it does, so that question is rhetorical.
