I was going to. I'm not sure where you were going with the title, though. This should be a good thing. It'd be awesome if they could pull off the same sort of deal with Fox and the mutant/X-Men rights.

Spider-Man can't get any worse than the last iteration.
Well, maybe he could.

Granted, nothing can be worse than the recent Spiderman movies. Maybe I've just reached peak super hero mashup movie saturation. I tend to like each one in their own little universe without them touching. The thought of an Avengers with Spiderman movies just seems like a horrible idea.

I think you eventually get to the point where there are so many super heroes in a single movie that they all fight with one another for more screen time. Plus you have to think about relative 'power levels' too. I mean, Hawkeye and Black Widow fight alongside a literal god and a dude in a post-scarcity robot suit.

Sony has to keep pumping out Spiderman movies or else they lose the rights.

Don't underestimate Hollywood's capability to really ruin something. I still want the 2 1/2 hours I spent watching Transformers: Age of Extinction refunded.

There was a particular issue in the What If comics that involved a massive war featuring just about every super hero and IIRC pretty much all of them were killed.

That was the fourth film in a series which had been a dumb explosionfest since the beginning. You knew what was coming.

Most of the comic book teams have roster changes at times. Spiderman was an Avenger, so it's not like they're slapping Punisher in an X-Men movie.

There could have been something else in the What If comics, but they did have a big Civil War storyline http://marvel.com/universe/Civil_War

Subzero is right.
I do love how the picture they use in the article is from the Christmas episode where Spidey has a good and bad spider angel/devil and is offered the life of Tony Stark instead of Peter Parker. I chuckled that I knew that when I saw it.

Word on the block, here on the lot, is next Spidey will be Latino. How's that for sacred?
