Back after a few years away about to fixskills my empath.

My question is what am I missing before I pull the trigger?

I'd like him to be a pure caster, he's just getting started with GOS so I should be able to shatter most things I'm hunting and this is what I'm looking at:

The SMC is so I can send mana from a cleric to top him up when he hunts or when he's healing.

Right now I'm having a lot of trouble frying off of just bone shatter, and I'm hoping with this I'll be able to use wands to extend my hunts. Do i have any big holes in this plan?

Cool, thanks some good stuff to think about in there.

Now the question is how much do I want to be using 118 / 111 in the near term cause then I need to work in 1x summoning lore, and that drops my Empath ranks down to 1x and pulls my CS from 107 to 100 to get 111 and 1x summoning lore.

He's level 18. Reroll him and take advantage of the first 30 days thing for 5 free fixstats and unlimited fixskills. This will let you set up a certain way for the first few initial levels where mana is a problem and you can rely heavily on wands or perhaps a weapon, and then once you are into your 20s or so you can reconfigure for a more pure skillset.

You can get to level 18 in 2 weeks or less very easily, and the unlimited fixskills to be able to test out different things is priceless.

Assuming you're not taking Velfi's suggestion...

Don't worry about using 118 yet. 111 will be of use if you're hunting trolls though. Quartz orbs will be of more use in boosting CS than the overtraining in Empath ranks. Mana will be a real issue, to the point I'd consider 2xing harness power. Take the 5 ranks out of transformation lore, and put them in telepathy lore. That'll give an extra CS damage cycle for 1110 (Empathic Assault).

There are alchemy-made Bone Shatter and Empathic Assault wands available for sale in player shops. Look for slender ivory wands and faceted amethyst wands. (Plug: I've got them for sale in my shop on Four Winds) Both have a significant amount of charges, especially the bone shatter ones.
