By our count, there are at least 17 right now in the mix (in alphabetical order): John Bolton, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, George Pataki, Paul, Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Rubio, Rick Santorum, Donald Trump, and Scott Walker. (At the King event, Palin teased that she’s “seriously interested” in running in 2016.)

Palin wasn't being serious. And I don't think Trump really plans to run either. There are 15 people on that list who truly want to run. I would narrow the list to 7 who have a shot -- Bush, Christie, Kasich, Paul, Romney, Rubio and Walker. Of those 7, Kasich, Paul and Rubio are weak candidates. I hate saying Paul is weak, since he has a good organization, but I just don't see him being the nominee. Under pressure from party elites, Romney will probably drop his plans to run. That leaves us with Bush, Christie and Walker, each of whom could be a strong candidate.
