New Gemstone video

I re-watched the old video I made from a couple years ago and had to wince at some of the images. I'm not embarrassed by them because I was brand new to the 3D stuff but they are amateurish. I think my technique has improved since then so I decided to redo it, and to include all the major Arkati as well as most of the lesser ones this time. I finished it last week but, because of all the PC troubles, haven't had an opportunity to post it until now. I enjoyed making it and hope you enjoy viewing it:

A few random thoughts and notes:

I used actual descriptions for these from the officials or wherever I could glean information. The only deviation that I made on purpose was Niima's hair. Blonde...come on, she's a sea nymph!

I'm not responsible for the dragon title pages. I cropped them from free wallpaper that I liked but I'm unable to credit the artists.

There might be a wardrobe malfunction in Ivas' shot. Shhh.

I used two images from the previous video and just changed the lighting and effects a bit, Kai and Zelia. I wasn't too unhappy with them so they got a second life here.

I'm probably most technically proud of how Eonak's arm turned out. That was a bitch to get done.

Leya's image is taken from an incident involving the sword, Soulingen. It's when she is tricked by Luukos into killing her lover Egan with it. Which, of course, meant he couldn't be resurrected. I just wish I hadn't put the page title over her head. Looks like she is staring at it.

Anyone who is familar with the Arkati probably noticed that I didn't include Phoen. Or did I...he's the God of the Sun and Fatherhood and consort to Oleani so if you'll look at her image again, you'll see I didn't actually leave him out at all. If you want to visualize him in your head, he's supposed to be identical to Ronan except with golden hair.

Andelas looks like he's chasing his own tail.

Definitely see an improvement in your work. I only have two minor critiques. Eonakes arm IS awesome but him holding that tiny forging hammer looks a little bit silly.

Marlu. That's a tough one. I've always imagined him to have a strong H.P. Lovecraft, Cthulhu vibe with a healthy dose of frothy mouth tentacles and esotericism.

I mean I'm not too familar with the site and really, the audience for Gemstone IV images is pretty tiny, so I'm not sure what the point would be really. Or do you mean my other stuff in general? Love it, except Kai...I dunno, maybe my perception is way off, but I always thought of him more like Achilles than Paris.

Nah, V'tull is the barbarian war chief. Kai is the consummate professional warrior. He's the sergeant that refuses promotions. He's the Major that leads from the front and has the undying loyalty and respect of his men. He's the General in the tent planning his attack.
