saw today there was now an option to buy simucoins in a block of 135,000 for $999.99

i wonder what kind of items are in the works that would justify that kind of sale.

I think it was related to a DR private property sale.

Have you ever wanted to have your own custom area within the game? Do you want something MORE than Premium homes -- an area where you design the sprawling grounds, the gates that let you in, your own personal forge, a special vault that your other characters can access? Good news! Now you can have it!

I honestly do not understand if SIMU can obtain this kind of money for such services, why they are unwilling to invest $$$ into game development where clearly the invested $$$ would return ten-fold.

Buy enough of those and we can clone GS.

it's the million dollar question really. Mind blowing after all these years they continue with the development of two new games while keeping their two established games crippled.

Simu got tired of printing dollar bills and jumped straight into printing Benjamin Franklins.

But they have fire extinguishers that need to be serviced on a yearly basis! Fire extinguishers don't grow on trees.

Will that be added to next years End Of Year Review list?

Wouldn't that suck if you paid the 1k and someone beat you to the actual simucoin item? So you would be stuck with the 100k points?

That would blow. Hopefully, you'd be buying the points in the process of buying the item so you couldn't complete the transaction if the item was already gone.

How its worked in the past was you had to check out once for the coins and then go back to the page where the items are and checkout again for the item. That is how people lost out on the large locker thing for GS.

YES. Apparently there are too many people that would bitch if this were to happen though.

I suppose they could implement an insurance policy purchase that you could put on a weapon (or any item really) that promises that any time the item is lost to the janitor (which GMs can tell), it would be returned to the player no questions asked. That way, it wouldn't tread on any weapon bonding toes, yet still ensure you don't permanently lose your item.

Obviously they'd need to limit it to 1x a week or something or people would get stupid about it, but seems simple enough to me.

One-shot insurance policy good for 1 week = 250 Simucoins
... good for 1 month = 1000 Simucoins
... good for 1 year = 11000 Simucoins

Provides a little incentive to get the longer ones, but if they are only good for one shot losses during a set time frame before having to be renewed this would lead to continued revenue streams for minimal investment.

One-shot insurance.

250 simucoins per week.

Arcane barriers surround you, preventing death via one-shot mechanics from high end invasion critters that cast things like Void, Immolate, Etc at el. Works up to 3x per day.

I would buy that. A lot.

You realize it's a business, right? I think you have it confused with a charity.

Right, I remember arguing about all of this years ago and being in the minority.

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to so obviously stratify customers based on an out-of-game factor ($$$.) I accept the fact that it is a business. I do pay a subscription fee after all. I just don't like the idea of pay to win, whether your idea of winning is alters, an in-game marriage, or 10X DB.

That being said, it's my opinion that reasonable minds can disagree.

DR rooms are slightly different.

First, they now have furniture that can store up to 50 items each.

So a bed, a table, a wall, a chest, an armor stand a weapon stand.. you now have 300+ storage. Then imagine having a private forge area you dont have to pay for, and a private alchemy space. etc etc.

Also.. you can have Butlers and such there. I remember someone had a ghost one. In GS, 1k$ for 2 rooms is nuts.. in DR.. 1k is not. Hell, Big boats for for much more.

I also pay a subscription fee...two premiums, in fact...have for more years now than I'd like to admit. 80 bucks a month for years on end....I should get something for that, right?

Well, I do. I get access to 4-winds, and premium access at events, and all the other enumerated benefits from premium accounts. Anything beyond that is something more.

The "pay-to-win" monicker is something that really pisses me off, because it normally applies to f2p games that have super premium items only available to paying customers, and the rest of the plebs have to just struggle through with inferior gear.

Gemstone is not, and never has been, that...using the in-game mechanics you can make some pretty awesome gear, certainly enough to be competitive at any level in-game....sure, the padding and weighting can't be done on your own, but you can damn sure make a perfect 7x t5 weapon, which is plenty good enough...I've run characters in the scatter with plain 5x gear...it's sketchy, died a few times, but it's possible. Having been a paying customer for nearly 20 years now, on a sub, I say good on them for putting the things they did on the SimuCoin store...even with 2 premium accounts I've bought some AG task items, and I'm good with that.

Quit taking everything so seriously, you'll be a happier person.

The funny thing is.. warrior bonding is so different in GS it isn't funny. What this would do tho is fuck over all the thrown weapon returners out there. If they coded it that it only applied if disarmed or if you died, that would be one thing. But if it they made it just like the DR potion, where you can invoke to return your weapon to your inventory... it would be a free returning hurler weapon.

I do like the idea of a potion that would allow you to return a disarmed or stolen weapon. Even limited to 30 times per potion. People would actually hunt the disarming areas more often with good gear.

If you really want to get to the heart of paying to win, there is buying silver and gear. As so long as that is allowed, the game will perpetually be pay to win. Not to mention MAing for outside spells, which is probably the easiest way to maximize gains in GS.

In comparison to the above, any service that has been offered by Simu (festivals, premium, etc) is a joke.

Note: I have bought/sold silver/gear.

I can't ever consider GS a "Pay to Win" game for one simple fact.

There is no way to "win".

Unlike most games that are like it, where there is an arena, leader boards, or prizes etc etc for ranking in the top during events. With GS, you can drop 10 grand on gear and silver, and it doesn't mean anything. There really is no point.

You can do that with GS properties too, anything that you can put things on will store stuff. The private forge and stuff, well... We have places with enchanting workshops and junk like that.

The only reason I disagree with you here is because there were personal goals that I set and made which made me feel like I "won" GS. Granted they were only known to me and a few close friends in the game, but I met them. Sadly, Andraset warpath kept me from achieving my final goal with Durfin and I ragequit.
