Yeah, I downloaded ruby and lich, but when I launch it, it cant connect. I end up getting this message error; launch method 1 timed out waiting for client to connect. Would you like to try method 2. I click yes and I end up getting the same thing all over. Can someone help me fix this so I can use lich. I'm currently running 8.1 windows. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Have you downloaded the Simu game launcher? It needs that, I think.

yes, I have everything downloaded. I've even uninstalled everything and reinstalled it all.

Windows 8.1 can be tricky when it comes to Lich. I had an issue with it as well for some time though it started working okay with Tillmen's newest Lich updates. So you get to the launch, click the Play button, but then nothing happens? Are you seeing what happens in the log file? I notice when I click play, there is a file that comes up in the TEMP folder briefly that is a GS launch command. For some reason it doesn't initiate past that and then times out... I used to have to go in and double click that one manually to launch it. So, I'd hit PLAY, then go into the TEMP folder, then double-click the launcher file that comes up. Might have something to do with the dumb WIN 8 security features. Maybe change the whole folder to Admin privileges?

There's a few things you can try.
First, you can try skipping the Simu launcher (which seems to be causing all the problems), by using a custom launch command. On the Game Entry tab of the Lich window, click the checkbox next to "Custom launch command". Two text boxes will appear. Click the arrow to the right of the first checkbox and select either the Wizard or Stormfront option. You shouldn't need to edit it. In the second text box, put the location of the frontend. There's a couple options if you click the arrow next to the text box, but they are almost certainly wrong. They're meant for playing from a usb drive. You'll need to enter something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMU\STORM
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMU\WIZARD
or something else. Open your file manager and figure out where your frontend is. You'll probably also want to use the "Save this info for quick game entry" checkbox to avoid this annoyance in the future.
If you don't want to skip the Simu launcher, then you'll have to try to make it work.
Uninstalling the Simu launcher, download it using "save as" (don't run it from the browser, weird things happen). Find the downloaded file in your file manager, right click and "run as administrator" to install it.
If that doesn't work, find the Simu launcher with your file manager (probably C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMU\Launcher.exe), right click, properties, compatibility, check "Run this program as an administrator".
If that doesn't work, set Ruby to always run as an administrator (C:\Ruby200\bin\rubyw.exe). This isn't a good thing to do. Trusted scripts go from being able to do anything a normal user can do to being able to do anything an administrator can do.
If that doens't work, get rid of Windows and install Xubuntu.
