Picked this up at EG06 auction, haven't used it the last few years as I switched out my main. When shaken gives a permanent illusion to demons which last as long as the demon does. 0 ranks of illusion required.

The rattle has been finely crafted from a single branch of thick dark wyrwood. It is no more than nine inches in length. Small holes have been carved into one end while a shrunken abyran skull adorns the base of the rattle's handle. The menacing stare upon the abyran's face makes it evident that a live one would be a fearsome opponent.

When shaken at demon.

You shake your rattle at your dingy grey abyran'sa in three quick motions, causing a blinding flare of kaleidoscopic light. A soupy wisp of refracted colors seep from your rattle, piercing directly into the heart of the abyran'sa. The abyran'sa gasps for air desperately as it transforms into a cloaked figure.

When shaken at figure.

You shake your wyrwood rattle over a cloaked figure, causing a kaleidoscopic burst of refracted colors. The chimerical form of the abyran'sa begins to melt away into a wispy montage of color, which is forcefully pulled into the eye sockets of the abyran skull mounted onto your rattle.

When waved.

You wave your wyrwood rattle in an arcing motion. A dark grey mist seeps from the eye sockets of the abyran skull set on your rattle. The mist slowly coalesces into a gaping abyran visage which expands to great proportions. A loud hiss can be heard as the image fades.

When shaken at another person.

You shake your wyrwood rattle spasmodically at xxxx, from which issues forth a smattering of sparkling grey dust. Light refracts oddly around xxxx for a moment, creating a vivid kaleidoscope of colors, but it soon fades. xxx does not seem amused.

Loresong.

Raising your voice to a rich timbre, you are able to discover that the rattle is a very valuable treasure shrouded in ironic tragedy, but you fail to learn much more.

The history of your wyrwood rattle is given up easily as you soothe the rattle with a catchy song. Your eyes fill with a scene from deep inside some unknown forest. Standing in the center of a wooded area is a large compound built into the muddy ground below. Running out of clever rhymes, you end your song.

Singing to your wyrwood rattle forces it to take you back to the compound that you just discovered. You think that your eyes deceive you as you begin to see through the actual compound as if it had been phased into some otherworldly existence. A tall hooded figure enters the compound, obviously out of place amongst the gnomes scurrying around. You end your song as you begin to contemplate the odd scene before you.

It is not too difficult to learn about your wyrwood rattle as you construct beautiful songs to unravel its mysteries. Your world becomes a shaky blur until you notice the figure, this time revealing his human face, is standing in front of a wizened gnome. Proudly, the gnome presents several well-crafted wyrwood rattles to the figure. Looking pleased, the figure lays out several shrunken skulls before the gnome. You recognize an aishan and abyran skull among them as your song ends.

You begin singing in a familiar key to your wyrwood rattle. The wyrwood rattle responds by showing you the wizened gnome, hastily insetting the shrunken abyran skull onto one of the rattles. Upon completion he presents his creations to his patron, who shakes them each vividly. Small surges of dust emerge but dissipate just as quickly. He waves the aishan-crested one, causing a fearsome maw to materialize in the air. The gnome takes aback frightened, but the visage soon disappears. Delighted, the human figure says, "You've done well, here is your reward..." as he places a gold and brass intertwined ring on the table along with a sack of coins. With those words, your vision spins out of sight and mind.

You entreat your wyrwood rattle with a somber song, wishing to learn more of what became of the scene you just left, remembering that the tale ends in tragedy. A vertigo of colors surrounds you as you encounter your gnomish friend again, conversing with another of his kin. Scenes of happiness and life within the compound permeate, and you are left wondering if your earlier intuitions were correct. Before you can find out, the scene subsides and you are left slightly off-balance from all the colors.

Relieved, you sing a more spirited tune to your wyrwood rattle. You see nothing but can hear the wizened gnome's voice, "I will finally explore the world, with this magical device graciously set to marvels beyond our compound! Until I return my good friend!" With those words, you can once again see the old gnome, who is slipping a gold ring onto his finger. As he does, he is quickly whisked away to a dark chamber with a dozen or so men. The gnome is visibly frightened as one of the sneering men says, "That belongs to us" and snatches it from the gnome's finger along with his bag of silver. Dazed and confused the wizened gnome reappears at the compound, shaken. He dares not look his friend in the eye who is still standing there with a doubtful look on his face. Embarrassed, the gnome scurries back into his workshop muttering about dreams unfulfilled.

The loresong also has some short reactive messages when watching a bard sing to it.

Mine sold for 36 mill. I would set the min bid around 30.
