Mononucleosis, the kissing disease. You get a fever and a sore throat for a while.

In some cases it can get you really run down, some people find themselves sleeping a lot when they have it. I've never had it but from people who have it can be mild with the conditions bob said, or more severe with nasty swollen glands and fatigue.

From one kiss?
Eesh
What are the chances?

Apparently Bob's girlfriend is a disease infested whore.

<<In some cases it can get you really run down, some people find themselves sleeping a lot when they have it.>>
That's just more confirmation. I slept for like 11 hours.
Edit: Slept = passed out, because I just realized I'm still wearing my shoes. Waking up fully clothed in a bed isn't as comforting as it sounds.

This means what? It'll be quite some time before I willingly allow myself to go through the hell of having some jealous, clingy, naggy creature all over me. No, I prefer flings, thank you. <3

<<What are the chances?>>
The chances are pretty good. It spreads through saliva, making it comparable to the chances of getting HIV from using the same needle as someone (or drinking their blood if you're Klaive/Kurapira).

Sucks bob... Drink a lot of water and OJ... you can buy this stuff called C-Blast or something like that, it's a powder thats like 2000% of your daily need for Vitamin C, it's worked wonders for me when I felt like I'm starting to get sick.

Well it's a virus, so it's dormant for about 2 weeks and during that stage you're the most contagious. Once you get the symptoms, you're pretty much fucked for another like two weeks. Sucks to be you, homie. Just try and keep the symptoms medicated and drink mad water.
I had a girlfriend in high school that got it and her parents tried to tell me it was me who gave it to them (even though I'd never had it). Turned out it was a relapse from where she had it before. And I still haven't had it, rejoice.

I'm pretty sure I had it the last couple weeks of 9th grade. I have no idea where I got it, not having kissed anyone. I remember quite clearly taking sleeping meds and asperin for the pain and still going to school but then having everyone probably thinking I was stoned out of my mind.

It's passed on through a buncha different ways, not just kissing. Kissing is the most common, but it can be transferred via drink contact and water fountains and shit like that.

I've had mono. It can be quite unpleasant. 16-20 hours of sleep a day. Such a waste.

Best to take Tylenol or Motrin, rather than aspirin. Taking aspirin for a virus increases the risk of developing Reyes Syndrome (I think that's the name of it).

I just figured it was a hella bad sore throat at the time.

I thought that was only with shingles (or was it encephalitis?)

It's true with any viral infection, Makkah; especially, for young people.

Yeah, my mom would never let me take asprin until I was a certain age if there was a chance I had a virus. I was stuck with shitty tylenol.

The only thing you fling is your own man goo on your keyboard...
Seriously, you aren't impressing anyone.
Shut the fuck up already.
Bob, my girlfriend had mono, and I didn't get it. I was pretty lucky. It's really not a lot of fun to have.

At least mono's one of those things you only get once. Hopefully it's mild for you.

Really? I didn't know mono was like that... I could swear I've had it twice, once as a younger kid and once recently.

You can give it to people because the virus could stay in your body forever, but you only get sick once.
Edit: I've had strep throat, and they're very similar, so maybe the same thing happened to you.

Strep is bacterial, mono is viral. Only the symptoms are common.
Aspirin for anyone under the age of 15, I would say 18 to be safe, is a pretty bad idea due to Reye's. Mainly because a child can be in recovery from a viral infection and not ever know they had one.

Wow, I've never even heard of mono. Glandular fever is usually called the kissing disease here, wonder if its the same thing?
Bobmuhthol
10-10-2004, 10:13 AM
Yeah, they're synonymous.
Edit: The symptoms are really mild so I think I'll be fine in a few days.

Oh shit, I heard of glandular fever. Thats nasty.
I had that once because I snogged so many people and I died and my head fell off.
/chadj
Seriously though, I know people who have had it and been really really ill for up to a year. Shit. I hope you got just a baby one, Bob. Wouldnt wish that on anyone.

If you don't like my sarcasm's or exaggerations, try what I do with people like Psykos: Every time you see their name at the top of a post, don't read it. If you read it even though you know you aren't going to like it, you have absolutely no right to bitch/whine/complain. Seriously, quit trolling dude.
More on topic, mono sucks total balls, it seriously, seriously does. Conclusion: Don't kiss the hooker.
