View Full Version : Fixstat guidance

My rogue needs a fixstat (he's old and has never had one). I haven't done this before, and could use some guidance. Of course the goal is to maximize tps.

My rogue is more physical than magical, and is a locksmith. He just knows 101 and 401-405.

At the end of the process, strength, agility, constitution, and dexterity all need to be 100. I also have a minor preference for aura to also be 100, but this is not essential (so if it's a dumb idea, never mind). Influence can be the lowest stat.

Any info appreciated.

you generally don't maximize for TPs.

TPs you can always get, eventually. Stats you can't.

Stats placed for maximal growth generally result in a net TP loss.

Really. I need to get more educated on the subject.

Take a warrior for instance, since they're pretty straight forward in this regard (rogues can get a little weird depending on build path)

as a warrior you obviously need more PTP

but for growth, you would put the bulk of your PTP extremely low. like, ~50 STR at level 0 low. That stat grows like a weed, but it still takes a while to catch up.

so sure, at near cap your per level training points is near the maximum possible, but you probably had 70 levels of really high MTP (since those stats were placed super high at the start because they grow slow), and really low PTP. Which is obviously inefficient when you need more PTP per level for your training plan.

The benefit of a fixtstat is not as much as I thought. If the main benefit is simply a few extra bonus points on a few stats, I guess I don't see the value given the cost of fixstat potions.

Depending on your situation those few extra points might be worth it. If your WIS/AUR are low raising them gives you more TD. If your LOG is low raising it means you get exp faster so you can finish your goals sooner. I used a fixstat but the difference in mine was a lot more then just a few bonus points. Some people say you can use enhancives to help offset that but someone with better stats and those same enhancives is still going to be better. If my AUR/WIS bonuses were only off by like 1-3 points I'd leave them as is, but any more then that and I'd be buying a fixstat. If my LOG was short even just 1 point I'd probably use one because that +1 over the time we play this game really adds up. Of course I don't do the whole logic enhancive thing and I probably should.

it depends how bad your stats were to start, as jeril said.

but if you don't see the value in potentially gaining 4-5 (or more) TD/DS plus secondary benefits to things like warcries, illusions, etc. (just thinking which stats end up ultimately higher after a fixstat) it's not that you don't get fixstats, i think the problem is you don't understand gemstone mechanics. period.

TPs are a function of time. It's assumed if you're playing gemstone, and concerned about stat growth, that is a resource you have plenty of.

you can't just will your wisdom/influence/aura/logic/etc. higher. shit + enhancives is still inferior to ~perfect stats + enhancives.

Gaining 5 TD/DS is nice, but when I weigh that against a million bounty points or the Simucoin cost, I don't see how it balances out. It's not like having an additional 5 TD or DS is going to make a huge difference in my character. However I have silvers, so I might see the benefit just by buying a fixstat potion.

I downloaded the trainer app. It's crashing under Excel 2013 when I put in my entire training plan, so I couldn't get all the info I need. However it appears I will lose 283 mental tps if I do a fixstat. There is some tp conversion happening so some minor training changes are probably in order, but I can't get the app to cooperate.

I'll download the app onto a PC with Excel 2007 and work it out. But assuming I gain +5 TD/DS and some minor skill benefits, but lose 225 tps and 14 million silvers...well I don't know. I still feel somewhat underwhelmed.
