That was just the limit for RTCF. CCF had different limits, and other events in the past probably did as well.

The last CCF event put me well past the 10x total mark on my armor, and Lucos took his shield to 10x/2x at the first CCF event. It was the RtCF event in between that had tighter rules that limited TD to 4x and total combined to 10x. You may recall that it also had redonkulous pricing for basically everything but light armor.
