7x Ice Resistant Shield

Are you a square, do you wear metal armor, are you unable to get ranger resistance because of that? Shields can have resistance, it is apparently the wave of the future. This was a box found item, I do not believe there are many other such resistance shields in existence. I've never seen another.

It has a bonus of +35 from a normal shield, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it serves some type of defensive purpose, different from that of normal armor.
The steel shield seems to have some sort of unusual protection against damage.

As your song penetrates the steel shield, you determine that it is moderately vulnerable to fiery attacks and very resistant to frigid attacks.


This shield works of course against ice attacks, if you're hunting an ice critter or ice area there isn't much better thing to carry in my opinion. You could also carry it as a backup when when an ice critter shows up and switch out with another shield, such as in the scatter.

Cool thing, it also blocks environmental damage.

The shrieking winds become suddenly violent. The temperature drops drastically, numbing your extremities in a heartbeat. You cannot see through the flying snow and ice, and it looks as though you may be in trouble!
You shiver as the frigid wind seems to find every gap in your clothing.

Perhaps it is only if the resistant shield is of the same type as the resistant armor, but at RtCF they would not add resistance to shields (despite having posted on the officials that it is ok and Plat having done so). Reason given was that there was some kind of clash or bug/issue.

you mean it won't work if the armor has like, fire resistance, or something? I could probably test that. My armor has resistance to fire, lightning, slash and puncture. I'll go take the shield out to a cold area and wait... I used an alt before with no survival training so I wouldn't have to wait that long.

So ya... works fine if your armor has underlying opposite resistance. Poor Gahiji did not have resistant armor.

I meant if the armor also had cold resistance.

Just a theory on my part though, not sure what the GM meant.

I've had a shield with resistance on it as well. They are pretty rare.

bumping this. I had a trade deal worked out I liked but after, well, months now, I haven't been able to reach the guy, his is MIA. So, back up. Practically one of a kind shield, invaluable to a shield user hunting cold critters, especially if you can't get your armor rangered.
