Another one bites the dust...

(I say that with all due respect)

Funny thing about Gemstone...a lot of us were barely into double-digits when we first started playing 20+ years ago, and now we're fast approaching "middle-age"...a lot of players were already middle-aged when they started playing, and now, well...

Either way, when you're part of any community for that length of time, there will be losses, regardless of relative age. Hell, my best friend died a month after his 21st birthday. Another very close friend died at 33...your next day is never a given, and never take any morning you wake up for granted.

I'll check out the Facebook page and send my condolences.

Yep, inducted my old rogue Ajaxx too. Hung out with him quite a bit back then, haven't seen him in a while though. Sad day.

From what I remember from like mid-late 90s Simucon pictures, yeah. At least old enough to have grey hair. I'm guessing game he was in his early 70s or so when he died.

I never really knew Enegue, but had some interactions with him during my first couple years playing.

All I really knew about him other than he was one of GS's true legends is that his locker supposedly contains some of the most ridiculous stuff you could imagine for this game.

And when I say ridiculous, I mean things like glasses that shoot eye lasers.

I was a month away from turning 19 when I started playing. I turn 37 in February.

Fuck.

So Silvergate should add a museum to Silvergate with all his stuff on display?

Lol...I was 12, and I just turned 34 last month...

Yeah, it's weird when you really put numbers on it.

We have a lot of things around the House at Paupers that are reminders of people in the past...Twilight even more so.

I haven't been a member of Silvergate since coming back in '06, but from back then I really don't remember anything as tributary as what Paupers or Twilight has...might be something for the current leadership to look in to.

Dunno nothin about nothin other than at a glance, I read the name in the title as, "Eugene". As in the mulleted freak from the Walking Dead.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I talked to him a few times when I was a mentor, always was a nice person. He was one of the founding members for it. He will be missed a lot.

Very sad news indeed.
Enegue (real name Ed) was a great influence on my character when I started GS3 in '96. Back then the Silvergate lounge was a very busy place, and he would often be there to help the massive influx of us noobs who had just discovered the game.
When the Order of Lorekeepers started, he and I were in a good-hearted race to see who could welcome a newcomer or answer a doorbell first - he usually won.
He had a great wit and he was always good for a laugh. He will be sorely missed.

There is an old pic of him on silvergate.org in the ooc section, I think from the early '90s.

Dang. I just knew him in game, great player from the old days. He impressed me enough to join Silvergate with a lifetime membership of 100,000 (a fortune then!).

I heard of his passing late. I didn't know him well, I knew him only through another player really. I do know he will be missed by many.

I know there is going to be an announcement on the officials about an in game memorial service.

The Silvergate Annual Gala has been cancelled.

It is with a heavy heart that I bring the news of the passing of our founder and friend, Enegue Lionheart.

Enegue founded Silvergate before all the stars were placed in the sky. He was a true warrior from the days of old and gave much of his life's blood to creating a House, known as Silvergate Inn, that was unique and respected in the lands. He loved the Inn beyond measure and her officers, members and friends will grieve his passing for a long while.

We shall hold a memorial service shortly; details shall follow soon.

I grieve my friend and I grieve the loss of a good man. A man with the heart of a Lion.

He inducted my very first character into Silvergate back in the 90s, and talked to me about how much he liked bards *which I was at the time*. He roleplayed with me and introduced me to my first in-game bunch of friends. Sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family.

I wasn't acquainted with Enegue, but I remember him as being a legend even back in the GEnie days. This is very sad news. Rest in peace, Lord Lionheart.

This is so sad. :( Enegue has inducted probably 15 or so characters of mine over the years. I spent a lot of time with him and his wife Brownying years ago, and his "son" (really him just playing another character) Ilstar. All my characters grew up at Silvergate Inn.. and back about 15 years ago when we had a decent population, the Silvergate Lounge was the favorite hang out for my friends and family. I've been away from the lands for about 10 years but came back about 6 months ago. Apparently just in time to chat with him a few more times before he passed. He will be missed.

Pretty sad. I remember when GS was hustling and bustling back in the day, it was always good seeing familiar faces around the lounge. Enegue was always very welcoming, he was one of the first players that I was awestruck by.
