Sonic weapons

I might be wrong but I believe there are creatures in game that can only be hit by certain weapon types. I think demons only by 8x weapons? Does this apply to sonic weapons? Do sonic weapons hit all creatures in the game? Are there any critters a sonic weapon can't strike? Thanks.
