View Full Version : You knew it had to come, CMAN migration

So they've decided to make cmans more like skills, this change is no good in my mind.

The Combat Maneuvers List (CML) learning/unlearning system is being revamped for a November RSN release. Learning CML skills will become an instantaneous process (versus the current two-minute wait per rank). Also, there will no longer be migration goals for each individual CML skill. Instead, unlearning CML skills will be handled by a Combat Maneuvers Points (CMP)-based migration system.

CML Migration System

Under this system, when a player decides to unlearn a rank in a CML skill, the rank is immediately removed and the related CMP is then placed in their unlearning points pool. The CML Migration System then periodically transfers CMP from their unlearning points pool to their learned points pool, where they can then be spent on other CML skills.

The rate at which these points transfer is based on the total number of CMP the player has converted within their current 30-day CMP migration cycle. If the player has converted less than 30 points, migration will proceed at a base rate of .375 CMP per hour (or 80 hours total to migrate a full 30 points). If the player has converted between 30 and 45 CMP in their current cycle, this conversion rate is halved. The conversion rate is reduced to 1/10 of its base when the player has converted more than 45 CMP.

The CML Migration System will come into effect on November 15, 2004. Any new CML skills released after this date will possess a 30-day testing period from their release date, where any CMP unlearned from them will be directly placed in the learned points pool (i.e. instantaneous point migration). Use of a FIXSKILLS will also automatically convert any unlearning points into learned points. Please note that players will not receive an additional FIXSKILLS for this system release.

I agree, that is some bullshit.

Seems resonable enough to me. You have to be stupid to think that it was going to remain the way it was forever.

I agree that it should be harder to unlearn/learn new CMs.. but since these are new to the players and they keep releasing different ones all the time.. I believe a November release date is far too early to select the CM that is right for your character.

Saw it coming. To many people could just, learn the one they want for half an hour and then unlearn and use another one. This way you have to actually have a CM path just like with skills.

That truehand sounds like it would be pretty darn nifty with a two-hander.

Also, they've said from the beginning this was going to happen. Doesn't bother me too much. They even give us 2 months to puzzle out which CMAN's we want. PB has a good point, but they have released a good majority of the maneuvers on the webpage.

edit: apparently there's a whole mess of new CMAN's. Neat! :D

Depends what you hunt and how you hunt.

I'm hunting kiramon which are insanely easy. I don't really need anything extra to kill them so I have 5 ranks of wspec and 4 of shadow mastery.

I agree, part of the fixskills should be a 10-day trial period or even lower than that maybe. This applies across the board, only makes sense to test something before you become it. You have to do crack before you become a crack head.

Agree with Falgrin.

They should release ALL of the CM's (even if there's only a few left to release) before implementing migration.
