WARNING: Please read if BEFORE hunting MAGRU! · on 10/6/2004 5:44:25 PM 2677

**This thread is a fair warning to anyone wanting to hunt Magrus.

Recently, (a few weeks ago), I came back to GSIV after a 7 month break. Someone told me a name of a critter I never knew of before; Magrus on the moon.

So I went to the misty chamber. Now, since I did not know what they were/their attacks, etc, I asked around if they did anything special or that I should be aware of. I asked several people, all of which said before because they cast. That's it.

So, my friend and I went to them. I took out my 0x altered veil iron warlords katana (heavy crit weighting from quest, I got it altered by a GM , don't ask how), swung it at the magru. And guess what? Get ready..you won't believe this. It DISSOLVED. Yes, poof. Gone forever. The GM that altered it for me (because of several months of good behavior) said she could not replace it because it was lost to normal game mechanics.

Life sucks. And I learned a lesson here. So PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS BEFORE YOU HUNT THESE!

Thank you.

Why don't I get alters from unnamed GM's for months of good behavior.

Well some of us --myself included-- never hunted Magrus (though I've heard of them) and I didn't know that they could make your weapon disappear.

Is it truly necessary to start flaming people without reason?

Here is the reason:

Dear Warclaidhm... may I suggest you stick with the official message boards with your stupidity? We can't make fun of you there.. so your stupidity is safe.

Weedmage, there are a number of creatures that can break *non-magical* weapons. Sentinels, gargoyles, magru, etc.

Ardwen
10-06-2004, 07:04 PM
Magru, as well as most stone critters including all the ones in Darkstone can destroy non-magical weapons and shields. Margu are more or less totally unhuntable unless yer a midget anyway.

If he shut the fuck up once in a while there wouldn't be a problem.

Was he totally asking for it? I'll let Weedmage Princess decide:

Considering that his post was helpful, it certainly wasn't flame worthy.

Taking the part of his post that you quoted at face value, it sounds to me like he just basically expected it, considering he can't do anything here without people biting his head off. This thread is a perfect example of it.

It could be said that if any number of people shut the fuck up once in awhile there wouldn't be a problem, Bob. :)

<<Taking the part of his post that you quoted at face value, it sounds to me like he just basically expected it, considering he can't do anything here without people biting his head off. This thread is a perfect example of it.>>

And that is why he should STOP DRAWING ATTENTION TO IT.

Warclaidhm is a member here. He has just as much right to post as anybody else, including you, Bob. If somebody really asks to be flamed, well...so be it. As I see it, Weedie is right. Warclaidhm did not ask to be flamed in this thread. He was posting something that is helpful to some. That is NOT a bad thing.

This is a safe place. A place where we can feel free sharing our feelings. Think of my office as a nest in a tree of trust and understanding. We can say anything here.

Weedmage Princess

So I guess that means he doesn't have a right to make a post without getting flamed, Bob? Even if the content is completely non-flammatory? Even if the content is helpful to others?

I didn't say anything about his advice (which I don't care for either way). If he's going to start his post with insulting people who insult him before it ever happens, how the fuck can you defend him and say that he doesn't deserve it?

<<So I guess that means he doesn't have a right to make a post without getting flamed, Bob? Even if the content is completely non-flammatory? Even if the content is helpful to others?>>

He has a right to make a post, but if the first line of one of my threads is, "All women are dumb cunts," then I fully expect someone to respond to it. By starting a thread with, "Anyone who flames me has problems!!" he is clearly begging for it. The most useful advice isn't as good when the person it's coming from is this retarded (ie. posts "don't flame me!!!!!!" at the beginning of EVERY POST).

HarmNone
10-06-2004, 08:21 PM
He really didn't insult anybody, Bob. All he said was If people want to flame him for posting something helpful, said people have problems. I don't see that as asking to be flamed. I do see it as defensive posting but, in his case, I can understand his feeling defensive.

It seems to me that there's enough on these boards to keep those who live to insult busy enough without having to bring their insults into a relatively innocuous thread like this one. If one is reacting to the posts, as opposed to the poster, this thread is not asking for flames.

Bobmuhthol

HarmNone
10-06-2004, 09:37 PM
I'm assuming it wouldn't matter whether it was a new non-magical weapon, or an old non-magical weapon. It's good to know that magru can dissolve any non-magical weapon.

Some found his info actually useful. If you dont want to read what he has to say.... dont read his posts? That goes for any subject you dont want to hear about but, yet still post about how you dont want to hear about it. Dont read the posts! The guy was just trying to be helpful, he knew ahead of time flames would come just from his name and asked them to stop before they started.Give it a damn break. This is not directed at any one person just the forum as a whole. Its tiresome to see everyone flaming someone trying to be nice and helpful. If you want to flame him do it in his other post about selling his claid or whatever. Yep he was an asshat and deserved flames for that, but not for this.

No problem. I didn't either, also. It's different than disarming or like huge mein golems in DS. The fact is, in DS and the like, you CAN get your weapon back. With these, there's not a chance. It just dissolves instantly, and your hand is empty.

I know it's a good thing to be kind to the mentally challenged, but I really have no patience for this idiot. Was it really necessary to mention twice during the supposed warning that you had a questionable GM alter, or was that repeated mention just so folks would feel sorry for you? Tea summed it up for me quite nicely. If it was just a "Hey guys, this happened to me and wanted to give you a heads up about it" then hey.. I wouldn't have even posted. But in pure Warclaidhm style, he has to add that he got a special alteration due to his great behavior for the 7 months he was gone from the game and that now he is out of a very special weapon because he didn't know.

Boo fucking hoo.

I don't get why people are so bent out of shape over his mentioning that a GM altered it for him or whatever, for whatever reason. The point of the post from what I gathered, was to say his weapon was destroyed by a magru. He didn't know they could do that to non-magical weapons, nor did a few of us others. It was a decent sized post and one little sentence at the end mentioned the alter. Just one.

I can point to threads, entire threads five, six and seven pages long of which the content is (in my opinion) completely useless, irrelevant information that really did nothing for anyone. Atleast this post informed some of us who weren't in the know about this particular critter and the damage they can do to certain weapons.

I am fully aware of Warclaidhm's history on the boards here and yes I am well aware that some, A LOT of the things he's done/said are deserving of the animosity he gets as responses to them. This thread is just not one of them.

Drew2
10-07-2004, 10:52 AM
If this thread had the intentions that you believe it did, there would be absolutely no problem.

You must learn, however, to look past the "advice" that Warclaidhm is giving and see it for what it is: A plea for pity. Sure, at first look it is easy to believe that he really wanted to warn people of what happens. However, I bring to your attention the following statements:

<Recently, (a few weeks ago), I came back to GSIV after a 7 month break. >

<I took out my 0x altered veil iron warlords katana (heavy crit weighting from quest, I got it altered by a GM , don't ask how)>

<The GM that altered it for me (because of several months of good behavior) said she could not replace it because it was lost to normal game mechanics. >

1. His "break" is irrelevent to the subject. It's just him saying "HEY GUYS I QUIT GEMSTONE DID ANYONE NOTICE????"

2. Are the details of his weapon, including description and weighting, REALLY necessary to get his point across? No. He's merely flashing, what he believes to be, a good alter around.

3. His "don't ask how" then "for having good behavior" bullshit is him trying to sound important or unique. He is neither.

As you can see, there is plenty of reason to get "bent out of shape" here. Not all of us are fooled by his "OH I'M JUST TRYING TO BE HELPFUL <3333".

Amaron

Interesting, If War just got an item for good behaviour then what was he bitching about in the Merchants Guild yesterday, when an alterer was trying to work? He kept whining about "never" having luck, about "never" getting work done.

A friend of his, or at least thats what he said, got picked. Said friend already had all the alters he wanted and didn't want work done. The friend wouldn't give Warclaid his spot and then the friend left.
Warclaid started pestering the alterer about wanting the guys spot, and then started asking her lots of other questions, then asked her if she would spin for more when she was done with the first batch.

People in the room were getting irritated at him and saying things like, well if someone would quit with the incessant questions maybe she would get done. He then whined some more and finally left.

But anyway, thanks for the info about Magrus I didnt know that either, then again I was away for a while and dont know much of anything.:?:

Your snide snotty flaming posts, as entertaining as you might find them....are not wanted, simple as that.

Bratttttttttttt85852525852

Your ignorant, backwoods, uneducated, mullet-having opinions are not wanted.

It's as simple as that.

Hey Weedie

Sorry I am not known to climb in the gutter with the likes of him, but seeing as he wants to play in the dirt, for a change I decided to call him on it.

Put a leash on him, gag him for all I care, but he crossed a line no one should have.

On topic Thanks for the tip War.

You're an idiot for hunting a new creature with a favorite weapon. You should always take crap gear when trying a creature you have no information about. Sure it's nice of you to point out that margus, as well as shit load of other creatures, will destroy non magical weapons. But you're at fault for the loss of yet another hideous weapon.

This is just another giant hint to the fact that you don't deserve nice things. Stick to plain 4x and move on.

I know what you mean. It's also funny that people think taking advanced classes in high school makes them smart.

Wrong. I'm not smart because I know math better than everyone else. I know math better than everyone else because I know math better than everyone else.

I'm smart because I'm not a fucking idiot.
