Okay, I won this item at EG. I will post all the details and examples of it in use, but a basic breakdown of it: It holds 20 lockpicks and can cycle through them. It is zested. It will attempt to pick locks, but it's only going to work if you, the wearer, are skilled with locksmithing-skill-stuff. It wont disarm the trap for you, you still need skill for that, but it will detect a trap, if there is one, every time. We tested it with a capped rogue, a bard with no lockpicking skills at all, but a lot of perception, and a wizard with about 70 ranks in perception(if that makes a difference? I know not the locksmithery). Super neat item and I like it.. and while picking IS on my list of skills to pick up I've got about 5m EXP of crap to get before I can start on it, so hopefully someone else can make good use out of it.

an oiled mechanized arm-guard - Intricate gnomish craftsmanship is plainly evident in the design of this mechanized arm-guard, with tiny copper gears and cogs inlaid within its entire structure. Small veniom casings line the interior of the arm-guard, while leather-wrapped bands of mithglin are attached to tiny hinges allowing the arm-guard to be secured about the arm. A small red button is inserted into the underside of the arm-guard with a large diamond imbedded into the back of the wrist.

You see nothing unusual.

You can tell that the arm-guard is as light as it can get and that its pockets could not possibly get any deeper.

ZESTS:
>wear my arm-
You place the mechanized arm-guard on your forearm and give it a squeeze. A moment later tiny copper gears begin whirling as it latches its mithglin bands securely about your arm.

>put hair in my arm-
You slide a diamond-crested ivory vaalin hairpin into an empty casing in your mechanized arm-guard. A moment later the gears spring to life as the hairpin disappears into the interior of the arm-guard.

>turn my arm-
You spin your mechanized arm-guard, causing its copper gears to whirl. From its interior a veniom casing containing a diamond-crested ivory vaalin hairpin rotates up to the top position.

>tickle my arm-
You absently run your fingers along your mechanized arm-guard. In response, several copper gears spin slightly as the entire interior rotates to and fro on your arm before falling still once more.

>spin my arm-
You spin your mechanized arm-guard, causing its copper gears to whirl. From its interior a veniom casing containing a gear-tipped veniom lockpick rotates up to the top position.

>push my arm-
You press a small red button on the side of your mechanized arm-guard. Suddenly it seems to spring to life as a tiny mechanical arm extends from its interior holding a gear-tipped veniom lockpick. The arm waves the veniom lockpick about wildly for a moment before retracting back into the arm-guard once again. Perhaps you should be holding a container of some kind?

>poke my arm-
You give your mechanized arm-guard a prod with the end of your finger when suddenly the copper gears jam with a nasty screech of metal! You give the arm-guard a good thump to no avail, before you notice a small cog that appears out of place. Poking a finger gingerly within the confines, you manage to push it back into place as the arm-guard begins to respond normally once more.

>rub my arm-
You gently rub the large diamond set into the wrist of your mechanized arm-guard. The diamond begins to glow with a white light for a few moments as a tiny mechanical arm suddenly extends from the interior of the arm-guard.

The mechanical arm waves about wildly for a few moments before retracting back into the arm-guard. Perhaps you need to be holding a container?

>rem arm-
You tug at your mechanized arm-guard in an attempt to remove it. A moment later its copper gears spring to life as it unwraps itself from your arm, coming loose in your hand.

EXAMPLES:
DISARMING WITH TRAP
J>rub arm-g
You gently rub the large diamond set into the wrist of your mechanized arm-guard. The diamond begins to glow with a white light for a few moments as a tiny mechanical arm suddenly extends from the interior of the arm-guard.

The arm begins to prod at a badly damaged steel strongbox in your hand. A moment later the diamond begins to glow with a deep red light as the arm quickly retracts.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

HOWEVER... you still have to detect it with lockpicking... my first DISARM attempt after the above yielded...

J>disarm my strong
You carefully begin to examine a badly damaged steel strongbox for traps...

You notice a discolored oval ring around the outside of the strongbox which makes you suspicious. Your suspicions are confirmed when you look inside the keyhole and notice the spring-loaded jaws pressed flush against the strongbox walls.

It looks like an extremely difficult trap (-203).

You still have a good enough picture of the trap in your mind, that you could try to disarm it.

Roundtime: 13 sec.

DISARMING W/O TRAP:
>get box
You remove an acid-pitted brass box from in your bamboo sewing kit.
>rub my arm-g
You gently rub the large diamond set into the wrist of your mechanized arm-guard. The diamond begins to glow with a white light for a few moments as a tiny mechanical arm suddenly extends from the interior of the arm-guard.

The arm begins to prod at an acid-pitted brass box in your hand. A moment later the diamond begins to glow with a bright green light as the arm quickly retracts.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

SUCCESSFUL PICK
>push arm-g
You press a small red button on the side of your mechanized arm-guard. Suddenly it seems to spring to life as a tiny mechanical arm extends from its interior holding a gear-tipped veniom lockpick. The arm deftly begins to prod with a gear-tipped veniom lockpick at the box!

You settle into the difficult task of picking the lock.
You make a passable attempt (d100=49).
You struggle with the box. As you do, you get a sense that the box has a primitive lock (-15 thief-lingo difficulty ranking). Then...CLICK! It opens!
The mechanized arm quickly retreats back into the interior of the arm-guard.

UNSUCCESSFUL PICK:
R>push my arm
You press a small red button on the side of your mechanized arm-guard. Suddenly it seems to spring to life as a tiny mechanical arm extends from its interior holding a gear-tipped veniom lockpick. The arm deftly begins to prod with a gear-tipped veniom lockpick at the box!

You settle into the difficult task of picking the lock.
You make a passable attempt (d100=43).
You are not able to pick the lock, and learn little about it.
Roundtime: 16 sec.
The mechanized arm quickly retreats back into the interior of the arm-guard.
