If anyone is familiar with Las Vegas, I need a recommendation for a family restaurant that is within a decent taxi ride (2-3 miles or so) from the center of the main strip that is not in a casino. Perhaps a local favorite? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I recommend Morton's. Not in a casino, on Tropicana or flamingo, can't remember which.

All of the good places are in casinos though. Try out mesa grill or Nobu if you don't mind going into Caesars.

If you like sushi, Sushi Roku or Yummy Grill and Sushi.

Yeah, there are a lot of them that are just attached to casinos in such a way that you don't get the weirdos wandering through. Stratosphere was really nice.

L'atelier in MGM is one of the best restaurants in the entire world. Casual too. But very pricy. Worth every penny however. I recommend the fois gras sliders.

You lost me at goose liver sliders. What the fuckity fuck gross. Foie gras is so nasty. Tried it once, gagged so hard that I sneezed it into my drink. Promptly vurped into my napkin.

By the way, you should really look into HOW most places get foie gras. It's disgusting, the practice. Google will turn you away from it. Promise.

Could give a fuck what peta thinks, but there's independent journalists who sourced this.

I agree some casino restaurants are outstanding. But I am meeting someone for one meal that simply won't walk into a casino. I just work here.

Taco Bell, that's within your budget right?

It's joel robuchon. The man is a genius. It's a little bit of foie gras on top of a beef slider. The foie gras is like a sauce.

I agree on foie gras though. Some places do it right, some don't. It's a french thing and he is french.

Best foie gras I ever had was Pierre gangier. He did it right. Jose andres used to do the foie gras cotton candy.... That was good.

Yeah it's fucked up on how they make it. I've watched the videos. They don't serve it in CA anymore. It's good in small doses every once in a whole.

Candor, Morton's is the spot. Especially if you like steak. It's the only place I go to in Vegas outside of a casino.

Foie gras is the pinnacle of God's grant to us of dominion over animals.

I'd feel bad about it if it weren't the best food on earth.

Somewhere, some cannibal is saying the same thing about eating your ass one day, Keller.

I didn't know that. That's pretty neat.

I haven't had foie gras in forever and now I want some, with a side of Snow :(

TGO you make me sad. =( Poor waterfowl. I'm all for eating animals that were raised, and slaughtered, humanely. But the way foie gras is cultivated is just barbaric and disturbing. Not to mention absolutely horrible.

You can harvest foie gras from pasture raised (and fattened) geese. You don't have to eat the factory-produced foie gras.

At least I think it was foie gras that I had...what other delicacy comes from duck?

Never had balut. I imagine it'd be good. Maybe fry it up like a soft-shelled crab.

Bingo. I like it from fat geese raised in fields.

I like it from galvaged geese, too.

I am not picky when it comes to sweet, sweet beef butter.
