what stat bonuses do I need in order to swing a lance in 5 seconds?

The total of your dexterity and agility bonuses.

Dex Agi Reduction Bonuses
1 second sum of 8
2 seconds sum of 23
3 seconds sum of 38
4 seconds sum of 53
5 seconds sum of 68

So you'd need a dex/agi of 53 or greater, you'd have to be an elfen race, halfling or gnome.

I'm a giant and I needed 99 dex and 99 agility which I have now before I could swing a lance at 6 seconds and the one extra second dosen't hinder me at all so go for 6 seconds and you should be fine.

I am encumbered a lot of the time and swing at 6. Since most attacks crit I don't worry too much.

Yeah speed with a lance is nice but not really needed. I swing my lance in 8 seconds (3 with haste which means I always swing in 3). You generally hit hard enough to stun or kill with a lance, I just like getting 2 swings off in under 6 seconds :cool:

Hunting with hard RT must suck a ridiculous amount of chode.

I do mine in 5.. I have since I was 28 trains. I love it.

Sometimes I throw on some Hauberk to make up for a lack of spells, and it brings it up to 7, which doesn't really hinder a whole lot. You still kick ass with a 7 RT.. Just not as fast.

I would love to have a lance at 4 seconds, and then use tonis.. get the RT down to the 1 or 2 range. However, I think I'm correct when I say 68 bonus is not possible?

my elven bard has a combined bonus of 70, 25 per stat, then 15 for agi and 5 for dex. however i'm still ETing his lance, so i havent touched one yet, so not sure if it can be dropped to 4 sec

You can get 68, find a stat mod item thats +3.

This hardly matters you can't go below 5s from DEX/AGL bonus anyway, although that extar 1s will help you carry more loot before you notice any ill effects.

Anticor's post is duly noted as a bard could have a 5 base RT and get -3 from Tonis with 75 ranks of air lore. And yes, I know his main character is a wizard.

Short swords are probably the most underrated weapon base.

I see the picture, short swords are underrated as are daggers in an ambushing rogue's hands. But, playing with short swords at low level is just silly.


Another thing you may have overlooked air lore affects haste as well, and does so when a wizard casts it on you, and I assume also with scrolls and embeds (ie his spell, your lore). I'll eventually test this myself. So, uhh, with 24 ranks you get a -1s bonus with haste, that puts you at 2s. Course this may not be viable for each and every hunt and each and every swing, but potentially very effective.
