a varnished grey faewood harp - Some russet faewood leaves occasionally fade into existence on the surface of the grey faewood harp.
This is an altered harp that had the off-the-shelf notes that was then customized for the russet faewood leaves. You need SOME skill at the instrument to get them to manifest and the more skill you have the faster/more frequently they will manifest, but anyone, bard or non-bard, can activate these. The leaves will 'dance' to match the type of song you are playing also.
As an adept...
>play my harp fast
Beginning without preamble, you start playing your grey faewood harp -- it rings with the speed of the notes, as you display your easy virtuosity and beautiful tone.
As you play your grey faewood harp, some russet faewood leaves suddenly flow out of the instrument, pulled into existence from the magic of your song.
.... then if you look at the room you are in... You also see some russet faewood leaves. - no one can touch them, but everyone can see them.
Then, as you continue to play the leaves will do things such as:
The faewood leaves pour into the air in a flurry, quickly spreading throughout the area.
As if trembling with excitement, the faewood leaves move so fast as to cast after-images.
The faewood leaves dance nimbly with each other in the air.
The faewood leaves weave in and around each other like zephyr winds.
With dazzling speed, the faewood leaves engage in raucous jaunt in the air above.
... they will move differently depending on the songs.. fast, slow, etc.. when you start a new song, the old leaves will disappear.
Mournfully:
As you play your grey faewood harp, some russet faewood leaves suddenly flow out of the instrument, pulled into existence from the magic of your song.
Hanging sorrowfully in the air, the faewood leaves darken in coloration.
The faewood leaves seem to drag along, each movement laden with great weight.
etc etc etc.. to give you some examples
Great item for Autumn, to add some effect of "falling leaves".
