Me and my roommate are hesitant still, and are likely going to wait until a really solid review comes in from people once it launches.
I've been following it for a while now, and watching the streams when I have time. Looks cool regardless but I still am hesitant anymore to buy any new games since alot seem to fall so short.

Yeah I'm holding off too. User reviews would be good (I'm still not sold on the Nemesis system) and I just have too many other games I should finish anyway. Plus Fall/Winter sales are right around the corner.

Yeah, I'm curious to see just how "unique" the system is. I have a feeling it's not as awesome as they make it out to be, as in like only bodyguards characteristics may change and stuff for that "Unique and new every game play" game
Curious to see how good it is as well.
I'm done with the whole pre-ordering thing. Never going to do it again. I have no need to be the first to cap and would rather wait to get a better consensus before I spend my time on a game these days.

Pre-ordered based off the reviews and my love for LOTR.
What's nuts is the optional texture pack comes with an insane 6GB VRAM requirement. Only upgraded top-of-the-line cards can pull that off.

Reputation: go jump into mouth doom bitch.
What is this "Mouth doom" you speak of?!
Yeah. I debated pre-ordering it but since I'm always busy anymore and am trying to cut back my playtime with games now a days since I feel like I want to focus on other things I opted not to. And besides, most pre-order bonuses anymore become unlocked after a few months to everyone else as well.
Only time I will pre-order a game anymore is if I love the basis or subject itself. Like, any Star Wars game I will typically know I am buying no matter what

I'll get it the day of release. I've been looking forward to it since it was first announced. I wish there was a solid RPG based in LOTR land, but there really aren't any current ones.... And this won't be one, since it is mostly an action game. :(

If you know you're going to get it you may as well pre-order for the bit of incentives they offer, unless you're against pre-order perks as a rule. It isn't too current, but I liked LOTR: War in the North. It wasn't perfect, but it was fun and had great lore.

The last LOTR game I really enjoyed was LOTR: The Third Age way back on the original Xbox. It was like Final Fantasy meets LOTR.

It seems like a lot of the games coming out now are using a Batman Arkham/Assasin's Creed play style. I'm not opposed.
Edit: for action games, anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would love a good ol' fashioned party-style, turn-based-combat RPG set in Middle-earth.

IGN compared the combat directly to Batman as opposed to Assassin's Creed.

So much for being able to play at midnight tonight. Score one for consoles, I guess. Midnight release means you can play right away.

I absolutely loved DA1 because of Shale. He made shit BADASS.
DA2 was equally awesome, I just didn't like the finite amount of mobs. You literally hit a ceiling of shit you could kill, and they didn't respawn. After 20+ years of MMO's and RPG's... Never run into that. Ever.
DA3 I am praying follows the same amazing premise, minus the obvious. It's like Final Fantasy meets Fable. Sexy.
Never played the Witcher series. Good? What game is it alike to?
Gelston
09-30-2014, 12:19 AM
DA3 seems to be taking the good from 2 and the good from 1 and dropping the bad. 2 repeated a lot of areas, for instance... Not this time. 3 is supposedly larger than the world Skyrim created too, if so, that is incredible. Still, I liked the story, and especially in 2 where you were just some refugee. You didn't change the world like you did in 1, you were just doing what you could to live in it...
In 3 you will be a major figure though. Everything I have read from Dev Diaries so far, it should be an amazing game.
Gelston
09-30-2014, 12:21 AM
Witcher is closer to Elder Scrolls. You don't create a character from scratch, but it is fully voiced, your character and the NPCs. It is a great game. You can get them both very cheap now. Get them. Not as large as Skyrim, but it came from a very small company.
Witcher 2 did so damn well though, and even with their smaller team and budget it was amazing, that Witcher 3 will be incredible. Another massive sandbox world.
JackWhisper
09-30-2014, 12:26 AM
You know what I want to see?
A game who's character *that you play* actually talks.
I mean come on.
Final Fantasy? No main character speaking for the most part.
Dragon Warrior? No main character speaking for the most part.
And more.
I don't mean selections like in FF7 where Cloud got to pick who to be an asshat to.
I mean dialogue where I can be like FUCK YOUR COUCH BITCH, and initiate a battle.

Well, mayo seems more popular than Witcher. Which, er, was my point to begin with!
But seriously... I tried the first Witcher. Yeah I am into the whole genre. But the game was clunky as hell, and too many talk screens. The whole menu with actions and abilities was confusing to operate... not user friendly. I don't mean to trash on people who like this game. It just wasn't for me.

Try out 2. I think it is $19? All you complained about is mostly gone. Combat takes a little to get used to, but when you do.. It is very fluid. It tells a great story too, which, I feel is the most important thing in an RPG.

I remember walking through a mall a few years back. I'm 6'4. People look at me quite a bit. I was looking down at my phone, got into line for a pizza place at the cafeteria. Two little girls behind me said WHOA YOU'RE TALL!
I turn around a bit, realize they aren't talking to me, turn back around, and there's a fucking guy, 6'11 *I asked after this all went down* in front to me. I just started laughing.

Haha, me and the 6'7" guy I was talking about... Got back from deployment and went to get new clothes. Went to get shoes and these girls saw these huge shoes and were laughing calling them clown shoes. He walks up and grabs them saying "Sorry, this is my size." They got quiet quick. It was great.

Find shoes.
Walk up to cute cashier girl.
Put shoes on counter.
She gives the size a wide-eyed stare.
Give a huff and say, "Yeah I know. Welp, you know what they say about guys with big feet?"
She answers, "Nope, what?"
You, "IT GOT WASTED IN THE WRONG PLACE!!!!" *Mock wailing*
I've gotten some play off that joke. Works like a charm.

Meh, you don't need to stealth, really. You just have to remember to only hit the attack button once per attack and to make sure you use block when prompted. I can sit there and kill 4563456345 enemies with no damage... Poison spear throwers are fucking annoying though.
