Do luck talismans help with the random component of ensorcelling?

I saw a well-known sorcerer rub an alchemy luck talisman before attempting an ensorcell. Does he know something I don't? Or was he just messing with me?

Although I use them on rare occasions, I'm not convinced that luck talismans actually help with anything except alchemy reps.

They work like the Song of Luck and definitely give you a rare second chance to avoid maneuver attacks. A saved post on Krakii shows the messaging: "You get the feeling that you were lucky and things could have been a lot worse!" I believe Song of Luck is also supposed to help with disarming traps. So that leaves me with some questions:

1. Do the luck talismans help with disarming traps like Song of Luck?
2. Does Song of Luck definitively help with anything besides maneuvers and disarming traps?
3. If so, do the talismans work the same way?

I doubt they do anything for ensorcelling but I have a locker full if you're looking to buy talismans. The first hit is free but then you have to PAY.

My new hypothesis (hypothesis = thoughtful guess) is that luck talismans work with things that use an open roll. I don't have any reason to believe that Ensorcell uses an open roll. But I'm pretty sure Enchant does.

I grepped my entire set of logs, and the sentence that Silvean quoted does not appear a single time. I use greater luck talismans when I hunt bandits. My reason for using a talisman while hunting bandits is that bandits use a lot of combat maneuvers. Now I think my luck talismans may have been wasted against most bandit maneuvers. I'm not even sure if they help with bandit traps.
