Jim Harbaugh to UM!

Will be nice to see burning intensity on the UM sidelines again.

I like the hire.

I'm glad Michigan puss'd out of our series now.

I fully expect UM to be a 10+ win team for the foreseeable future, but I am curious to see how Harbaugh does without Andrew Luck. He never really had a great team at Stanford until Luck's last two years. It's hard not to succeed with a once-in-a-generation QB.

only if Brandon Harris develops will LSU make any noise. The defense will be salty, but their QB situation is fucked.

Ya - Jennings did not look good at all. That would have been a 31-14 game without those two long runs from Fournette.

Dave Brandon backed out for games after 2018. After we joined the ACC in non-football sports, we canceled the remaining three years.

We upgraded our scheduling though by adding Ohio State.

How many weeks was Ole Miss ranked in the top 5 this year?

Foreseeable future = 3-4 years?

Harbaugh doesn't stick around at a job for long.

Might just be annoyed that Andy Dalton can't win a playoff game.

I've been hearing rumors about one of the Ryans coming to LSU as DC. Chavis is out. I heard Rex Ryan, but I can't help but think it would be Rob. We'll see.

Also, god you sucked Ole Miss.

We'll see. Nothing is in stone any where. I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend claiming they got a text from a friend that works in the LSU Athletic Department. Seems shaky to me, but if it is true, awesome. Supposedly going to pay around 4m a year.

It's hard to blame them for being the subject of SEC homers. It was clear to the rest of us that they were a mediocre team.

It isn't a debate. Not paying adults for these college sports is a scam.

Pay them minimum wage and take away their scholarships. Problem solved.

There's a difference between unranked and being a nobody. I don't feel like explaining what that difference is at this time however. I'm like fuck the NCAA and college sports though, so I'm a bit biased.

So, there is at least a flicker here... Let us all pause while clueless AndroidPK asks what I mean. Let us know when the rest of the class can move along Android.

Pay them minimum wage and take away their scholarships. Problem solved. You can offer minimum wage, certainly. I do not think your hypothetical university will enjoy the talent disparity that creates with the POWER SCHOOLS that offer much higher wages so as to preserve their position of POWER.

You could also try to form some kind of consortium or cartel of all the schools so as to artificially keep wages low, but you'd get in big trouble and it's just poor form to copy the NCAA's idea.

That last play is about the only argument I've ever seen for the 1 foot rule. No real chance for any second foot, play was made with what was available.

SEC West is 2-5 in bowl games. Also, Clancy Pendergast will be the new DC at LSU.

I pretty much view college football as a semi criminal enterprise that hides behind the facade of education. That said, it was fun to watch Oregon stomp. I'm sure they're just as bad as any east coast team, it's just that I haven't read their bad press, so I'm a not disgusted by their past antics.

They just need a decent quarterback. I'm still holding out hope that Harris can be the guy. If not, we'll have to wait until Shea Patterson gets here.

Right, because there's no "talent disparity" now. There's a good reason UC Davis' only game against a ranked opponent ended in a 45-0 loss.

You could also try to form some kind of consortium or cartel of all the schools so as to artificially keep wages low, but you'd get in big trouble and it's just poor form to copy the NCAA's idea.

There are endless unintended consequences with trying to pay student athletes a wage, you're exactly right.

Right, because there's no "talent disparity" now. There's a good reason UC Davis' only game against a ranked opponent ended in a 45-0 loss. You're saying the big schools already pay their student-athletes? ;)
There are endless unintended consequences with trying to pay student athletes a wage, you're exactly right.I'm not sure how that has anything to do with what I said, but putting that aside, "unintended consequences" is a pretty silly argument. Observe, if you will:

There's a $20 on your window sill.
If you don't grab it, it will float away.
But if you DO grab it, there might be unintended consequences!
Therefore you don't grab it.

???

That's not how you act in life, it's just a trendy way of dismissing any proposed change you disagree with. You don't offer anything specific, just that something bad might happen to someone at some point, therefore we shouldn't address an actual bad thing actually happening to someone right now. Silly.

Also, what the fuck. The SEC has sucked this year. I don't concede that we were overrated, our teams just didn't play like they should have. We have next year. I predict LSU being dangerous.

I know most of you don't care, but 4 national championships in a row for my alma mater, North Dakota State University. An interesting tidbit: the seniors have more national championships (4) than they have losses (3) over the last 4 years.

I always seen NDSU as a "better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven" team... As in, they should have been in the FBS a while back (They generally beat the FBS teams they face).

They've only been Div 1-AA (FCS) for 10 years, having moved up from Div 2: a little short of a time frame to be developing "always" as an opinion. That said, they dominated in Div 2. It's a school with about 11000 students, and my opinion has always been that they play a bit over their heads in football.

Excuses! UAB was a FCS for only 3 years before they went into FBS.

And yes, always is appropriate. I never heard of NDSU before they started destroying FCS.

Sheldon Day and Ronnie Stanley, the two juniors most likely to declare, have returned to ND.

Adding to those returning starters are 4 starters that were suspended all season, including a pre-season all american CB.

With OSU, ND, TCU, Baylor, USC, Oregon, and Michigan State returning most if not all of their starting units, I would be surprised to see teams from lesser college football conferences (ACC and SEC) earn spots in the CFB playoffs next year.
