Do warriors typically have any AS issues as they approach cap? I'm trying to decide on a shield/polearm or twc/fist-scythe build and this pretty heavily factors into my consideration. I'm a halfling so I have an innate penalty already. Assume self-spelled as I rarely get spells from others unless they just give them to me on the fly.

I'd say not really. A halfling is at -15, but refer here for estimations - http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?88511-Highest-Theoretical-AS-Inquiry&highlight=Highest+theoretical+AS

Weapon skill, CM, bonding, weapon spec, and strength should give you plenty from 1st level coupled with society if you want them.

I never felt like I was hurting for AS as I worked my way towards cap, at cap, or being postcap for the most part. I didn't start using any enhancives until sometime after I capped, and when I capped I was only using a plain 7x maul. Hunting in Nelemar and OTF against most things an AS of 500 was plenty. In Nelemar hunting sentries and GWE you'd want more AS and in OTF it can cut down on set up time. Hunting plane 4 I preferred more around 550, just easier to get death crits against crawlers. Hunting in the scatter you want a high AS for fetish masters and liches, and while you can hit destroyers without much AS if you want to get death crits often you'd want more unless you get a weapon with a lot of crit weighting. Some things along the way did have a high DS but mostly because of WoF, easy enough to walk away from those creatures but I never did.

I trained heavily in MIU/Scrolls to be able to wear bravery in OTF. That helped for my halfling.
