I would agree with Sintik, I Was thinking maybe they were installing everything on the Test Instant a Little Early

It's not anything to do with GS4, which isn't going to be up until October 11, and is on a different server.

Yes but internetwork traffic of them doing a massive update on any of their servers would cause extreme lag everywhere.

I said Test Instance...Not Live :)

Plus isn't Beta on the same server as GS3? How else do they share the same Database when you convert over?

Artha

I'd guess they're on the same network. I remember lots of times the test instance was down and GS3 wasn't.

It's a different server. He's right. They do a character database copy/transfer sort of thing. They posted about it somewhere on something.

a shutdown like this would have nothing to do with uploaded data and traffic. If you ever visited the site, they have multiple servers, and moving data and even installing it into a different region on the box would not cause a shutdown like this.

More likely either a telecom issue or someone broke the game either by a GM installing code that caused a fatal error, or a player did something that was outside the system

It was Garr. He said something intelligent.

System failure.

Is anyone having trouble connecting this morning perchance?

I'm wondering if this new company that bought us out finally blocked out Simu :: mutters ::

Play.net domain is blocked so I can't get to that ever, but I can still get in through SGE, so they have the ports open. If they close those ports, grr.... I'll be using my cellphone to dial up LOL.

I'm a programmer. But in a company of 5000 with them actively watching, it means a 6 figure income down the toilet because I decided to "reroute" ;-)

Hehe, that is hilarious, and yet I don't think that anything like that could possibly occur.
