I survived fiscal year 2004 and I didn't fuck anything up. Also, I didn't kill myself or others.
Anyone that knows anything about government purchasing procedures knows what I mean...

LOL -- I wonder if I'm the only person that got that...
Anyway the big deal is that federally funded agencies' fiscal year ends 09/30/04. Which means, they have to spend all of their money prior to this. The problem lies in that the government doesn't release funds generally until the last 3 weeks of the FY. I work on the busiest team here, and so that basically means I had to do about 6 months worth of sales, returns, troublehsooting -- in 3 weeks. And it's been this busy since I started here, because the government released their money early this year...
And now, it's over, and I literally have nothing to do except try and look busy...

Er, they made you take vacation for being in an accident? That sucks :(

Yeah, I had to take 3 days off, and I used up all my vacation time (what time I had), and didn't get paid for most of it.
Now, I'm broke, and I'm going to be broke-er next payday. :(
Funny thing is, I'm on salary, aren't they supposed to not dock you or something? Ugh. Bull.

So if I have a salary, I can not show up for work and get paid in full? I'm looking forward to it.

That's called a union job. Check them out. You can not work for months and they can't fire you because you belong to the union. You knew there was a reason you paid them 20% of your check.

Supposedly that's what salary is. They agree to pay you an exact amount instead of by the hour... except they dock me when I'm not here, and don't pay me when I stay late. So they get the best of both worlds.

That's pretty much how my job works. If I'm sick, I don't get docked. If I have a doctor's appointment, I don't get docked. If I want to leave at 1 on a Friday because I have plans, I don't get docked.
If I work until 9 PM solving someone else's screw up, I don't get paid extra. If I take my laptop home and do an extra 10 hours worth of work over the weekend, I don't paid extra.
I get paid to do my job, not to fill a chair.
That's called a union job.
It is also FMLA, short term disability, and long term disability. I qualify for those, and I am certainly not union.
