I've got a fusion vultite waraxe at the base 5 lbs. Any ideas how much it would cost to take it to max lightened? I rarely seem to find a merchant that fits my schedule and never get a spot when I do.
I would guess it can be lightened twice to 3 lbs for 600 premium points each time. If that's right, how much would 1200 prem points cost me?
Thanks!

Don't waste PPs on a lightening. If nothing else, find someone at a festival to do it, or go to EG and get it down to max in a day. If I'm not mistaken, 3lbs should max, and they drop it by 10% per service, so you're looking at up to 4 services to make it happen, unless you find a generous merchant to do it all at once.

And last I saw, alter scrolls ran around 1.5-2m, so you're looking at a ton of silver if you go that route.

And premium cost for lightening is now 400 pts, though like Palcron said already that would be an expensive waste.
You can get the work done more easily at festivals, of which there are 2 free ones this month (assuming you are not premium or would be 3).

I'll shoot for the festivals then. I've got two to lighten, so that sounds like 8 services. I'm at 2x cap though without ever getting any help from a merchant, so I'm not overly optimistic.

It's not also about firsthand receiving the services from the merchant, it's also about reaching out to others who could go and attempt to get the services on your behalf. If you offered someone a couple hundred k for their spot, they may take you up on that offer, and while you're still spending silvers, you'll be spending significantly less compared to the PP route,

I thought you had to have the item in hand when you're picked, so no swapping with others.

Different merchants have different rules.

So is it best to whisper to someone who wins a spot or work out a deal beforehand?

Some merchants do get pissy when they see you passing things to people, some don't care. It just depends on the merchant. Also, most of the merchants I usually saw (haven't played in a year and a month :( ) they'd still manage to hit everyone in the room. Just watch the calendar and be aware of the messages. I've seen merchants pop in at like 1AM Central before.
