This game has the worst welcome mat for newbies out of almost I have played. I have been nice. I have wrote a bg for my toon. I have showed up for nalmnost every event. I have made myself known to the big RPers and the GM toons and fucking nobody will give me the time of day. They are nice for two seconds and then leave. I never know what is going on. despite all my attempts to stay informed, because who fucking cares about sharing story threads so EVERY ONE can share. Its all about clicks here. Everyone is in their click like its highschool. You talk shit about each other despite being exacftly the fucking sane. Bitch on simu forums about the other side ruining your event then what. Show up at the OTHER SIDES and do the same thing. Instead of that why not find a newbie who is struggling to get involved. Help them understand the event and MENTOR then like so many of you MENTORS should be doing. Get involved. have people on the steps laugh and make you feel stupid for trying. Whats the problem here. Ever heard of THE MORE THE MERRIER. Fuck you all:fu:

You need to simmer the fuck down nubsikins. Nobody cares about your background, nobody cares about how many events you show up to. People care about interactions, which are not isolated to events. Guess what? It's the same as real life. Nobody cares if you attended a party unless you interacted with people, and then only then, it's usually just the people you interacted with actually care about you. Just because this isn't a game doesn't mean in this fantasy world, everyone is going to automatically love you like in your dating sims.
There are countless threads across both these forums, and the official forums that provide recaps of events. Hell, even that type of stuff didn't exist 10 years ago. Kenstrom has been incredibly forthcoming with details and recaps which is relatively unprecedented. However, if you're truly a nub, I really hate to break it to you, but you have a long way to go before you're providing support during invasions or a lot of special events. Events in gemstone are kind of the 'endgame'. Except unlike WOW and pretty much every other MMO out there, lower level people can still participate and support the capped characters.
There are countless new ways out there to support nubs. First, there are actually MENTORS through an established MENTOR system that can help you. Lets let that sink in for a second... Everyone should be mentors, or should mentors be mentors? HMMMMMM. Secondly, there are a wide array of profession based guides at your disposal, both here on PC, on Krakii, and even references to them on the official forums. I know the Bard, Wizard, and to a lesser extent, the Sorcerer guides are pretty solid. Lastly, there's a lot of opportunities for lowbies to get good gear for relatively cheap. I mean hell, nowadays you could likely even find a godly 5x fusion longbow for the low low price of only about 4m or so. That's pretty unprecedented and an amazing deal.
This game is incredibly newbie friendly, moreso when the newbies aren't acting out and QQing over not being super far capped, or not having friends yet. This is not like any of the other MMOs out there, you'll be grinding for years before you become capped, you may even run into a person in the process, and maybe make a friend.

There are quite a few people who would help you but you have to catch us outside of the storyline stuff and when we are paying attention. The role of mentor also isn't something that is always on, if you want to speak with a mentor ring the bell at one of the mentor establishments, or try speaking to one when they aren't busy. Ringing the bell doesn't mean an automatic answer either, sometimes you've got to wait around 5-10 minutes and if someone still doesn't show up you can continue to wait until one does or try again later. Mentors, like most of the GMs, are a volunteer force and aren't required, but certainly encouraged, to answer the doorbell. There also tends to only be a few mentors on at any given time, sometimes less, and if no one answers it likely means they are engaged with doing other things, we are all here to play the game after all.

A good way to get involved and meet new people, and perhaps even make a few friends, is to check the calendar for House and MHO events. Show up and interact with like-minded people and you'll be surprised just how fast you find yourself where you want to be. You could also just go old school and RP this frustration, the ACT command is your friend too. If all else fails, roll a mage and Meteor Swarm around town, that will surely get you noticed.

That.
No one is inherently special or worthy of anyone's time. It takes effort and patience to build any sort of rapport, be it as friends or adversaries, and you have to take the initiative more often than not.
Just slowly put down the hateraide, stop trolling and chillax a little bit, and start -- or keep -- interacting with people. Flipping your shit and making angry posts about it isn't going to change anything for the positive.

Oh BTW, on a more serious note to the OP, when I was 14 trains I was in exactly the same boat. Know what I did? I roleplayed a spy posing as a Mayor's aide, made up my own shpeel that had nothing to do with anyone but me, got bitched out by at LEAST ten idiots, and got two private RPA's from the GM playing the mayor dude in Icemule. You must not give a rat's ass to actually DO something. You just want to bitch after putting half an inch of effort forth. That's just not fun stuff bud!

When I joined GS I knew no one, I just hunted, asked if others I saw in my area wanted to hunt with me, sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't. I also did White Havens weekly house hunt- I met new people, went to areas I usually was too young for, and had a good time. Think of Dory- "just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."

Mr/Ms/Mrs (Angry Player),
You have to understand that you wont become popular overnight. Most of the players you will encounter have played the game for awhile; Or are fairly new to the game (Like myself.)
The trick to enjoying your time in Elanthia is to:
1. Come up with your characters back ground using your imagination, or doing some researcher on the past.
2. Pick a race and profession that you find enjoyable. I don't care what anyone else says. Its got to be something you enjoy playing.
3. If your not good at RPing your character, then keep it simple until you watch some of the other players interacting. Its okay to ask questions using /whisper ooc (name) ....if your curious.
4. Depending on how you play your character I would suggest that you start out with sitting with others, introducing yourself, and listening to the different conversations that are taking place.
5. (The most important suggestion) Always try to remain in character. You can talk about Who has the highest AS? or How about those Dallas Cowboys? or any other OOC topics at a private table or using the /whisper ooc (name) message. The more the other players see your character acting as he or she should. The faster your name will get around and your characters history will grow.
I hope this helps you, Mr/Ms/Mrs Angry One. If you have any questions I will be in the landing for another few weeks.
Just read my signature to learn my wizards name.

Also... since you so kindly tried to drag the mentors into your obviously frustrated rant...
Help them understand the event and MENTOR then like so many of you MENTORS should be doing.
If you want tips, tricks or help with getting involved try visting Silverwood Manor, ringing the bell and talking to a Mentor. Expecting people to consider you anything other than another random person showing up to see what the hullabaloo is is a bit... well, you should probably lower your standards a bit. Showing up outside of rp events in place people gather and actually talking to people is what will get you noticed and involved. Complaining that no one likes you or wants to play with you and then going further and trying to alienate and "bitch out" the people you actually want to play with isn't going to help you very much.

I figure it's just someone who didn't like the way their being treated on their char and came here to complain, but dragging the mentors into it is unfair and rather uncalled for. The mentors are a group of people who do a lot behind the scenes to bring culture and interest to the game and giving them -any- flak for whatever shortcomings you perceive them to have is a slap in the face to what they do.
