MIU for imbeds?

I have 18 ranks in MIU and have this "yellow thanot cube" which 414 in it. When I rub it it simply says "You rub your cube" but I gave it to someone else with more MIU and they were able to cast the spell. Shouldn't there be some kind of roll performed to see if I succeed casting the spell?

Two questions:

Are you sure it's 414 and not 419? Both show brilliants upon activation.
Ranks = Maximum spell level you can get a roll for. So you would be able to see a roll for 414.

Have you tried the other activators of Tap/Raise/Wave?

Oh hell I assumed 414. I supposed it could be group guards. Guess I'll get another rank in MIU and test it out.
