I have watched the first two episodes so far. Seems like it has potential.

Yeah, I'm forcing myself to keep watching it. I like the premise, but the writing is horrible. Its right at my tolerance limit.
The bit with the detainees (somehow wearing traditional Afghan clothing lol) in Guantanamo "You forgot one thing ... WE DON'T DEAL WITH TERRORISTS" and the episode with the cartoonish drug lord (El Toro heh) and South American civilians have been the worst. The Russian admiral big bad guy.
I want to like it. It has its moments. The actors are nice, but the material they are given ... oof.

Is the premise that our hope for survival is that last, presumably, uninfected ship? (from the brief snips of advertisements I caught) Isn't it also by the Transformers guy?
How did our submarine fleet get infected?
I was choosing between this, and Tyrant (FX) to start watching. So far I've only watched one episode of Tyrant.

From what I saw, it looked similar to the 1959 film, "On the Beach." Which did an amazing job covering nuclear fallout and the last voyage to look for safety.

I've been watching it every week, really enjoying it too. I'm sure there are submarines that escaped infection but what makes this ship special is they were tasked with finding and creating a possible cure/vaccine.

Well, I'm not sure how many ships would have made it.. I imagine the Destroyer wouldn't have if they'd known anything was going down. They probably would have returned home, orders or not, and been infected.

The casting of that chick as the scientist annoys me. Maybe it's a stereotype but, she's too pretty and vacuous to be believable. She's the sole reason I stopped watching after the first episode. I might pick it up again when I'm completely bored and there is absolutely nothing else interesting to watch On Demand.

That's the same reason I stopped watching Extant after the first episode. Halle Berry is a little more believable because she can actually act but still...astronaut? Hardly.

Only dirty liberals don't like this show, okay?

Pretty girls working in complex fields is unbelievable? Extant is another great show that I can't get enough of.

Yeah I was hoping for On the Beach, too ... even the Armand Assante version lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm still watching it, but its making me work for it. :)

Possible? Sure.
Likely to be in a position to be the only person on earth able to create a cure to a global epidemic? Not at all.

I really think these show producers need to cast normal looking people for their "epic" shows. Take a page from the GoT cast.

GoT isn't full of normal looking people!

And instead of pretending to cure a deadly disease, they simply pass it on!

Rhona Mitra is indeed very attractive but not overly so that it overshadows her character's intellect.

Rotten Tomatoes condensed opinion: "Movie-sized action sequences and a pretty cast provide smooth sailing for The Last Ship, though it's not anything that hasn't been seen before."
Damned with faint praise.

I forgot about her. I think she falls in the whore category that Gelston mentioned so my point still stands.

Yes she is. Ros, the whore, was really hot in the first season too.

I love this show. It's a great attempt at making Blueside Navy seem relevant. Ha!

If they wanted to be totally realistic it would show the cleaning the ship 6 hours everyday.

Why don't you think they're relevant?
Because I spent a decade in the Army and I like giving them a hard time. My parents were both blue side Navy and lots of my friends are but I still give them shit.
