From a contest at the Solhaven Festival. It's just collecting dust, lately, so if someone else would like it...
a chestnut crushed-leather compass case caught with a brass sunburst latch - under 1lb, VSA
>open case
You fiddle with your compass case before managing to lift the latch. Carefully, you flip open the cover to reveal the contents.
>close case
You close your compass case and carefully fasten the latch to secure the contents.
inside,
a mother-of-pearl inlaid lacquered teak compass - Blonde teak, its intricate grain enhanced by a thin layer of clear lacquer, encases this finely crafted instrument. Centered on the back, flush against the golden wood, an inlay of nacre forms the silhouette of an elegant swan, its outstretched wings sweeping upward. Framing the glass face of the piece, a narrow halo of gold bears an uninterrupted circle of flowing script.
>read compass
In the Common language, it reads:
Guiding You Home - Discover Solhaven, 5113
>rub compass
You rub a smudge off of your lacquered teak compass then hold it level in the palm of your hand. Your reading confirms your bearings and you feel confident of your heading.
>tap compass
You tap the surface of your lacquered teak compass to get the needle to spin freely.
>push compass
You hold your lacquered teak compass out in front of you and study it carefully to get your bearings. Turning slightly, you gaze up ahead to pick a landmark for your heading.
>turn compass
You glance down at your lacquered teak compass, then up at your surroundings, then back down at your compass again as you slowly turn in circles. Finally you stop because nothing is making any sense. Could you be lost?
>peer compass
You peer closely at your lacquered teak compass, then look up at your surroundings feeling slightly perplexed.
