View Full Version : Armor Support Question

So, I was sitting here this morning thinking about how almost everyone in the game uses or desires armor support. I've always used armor reinforcement because being primarily a warcamper since the armor system was fleshed out, I've avoided getting any major wounds on limbs that get knicked with small damage. But I was sitting around today, thinking about how I barely even take a minor, so it got me thinking about switching to armor support.

I fear that I may have a fundamental misunderstanding about why armor support is so awesome. So here is my question:

Does armor support ONLY allow you to carry more weight before you are encumbered, or does it provide some mechanical advantage when it comes to things like maneuver attacks as well? Let's assume for the sake of this discussion that I never become encumbered by picking up loot. Should I use support anyway?

you can have both one reinforcement (slash/crush/puncture protection from warriors only) and one armor support (doesn't require fittings) at any time.

No I'm talking about the armor skill (cman-like thing) called reinforcement. It "reinforces weak spots" which makes it so that if you take minor damage on a slot that already has a minor on it, it doesn't stack into a major wound.

Armor help reinforcement explains it. This isn't adding resistances.

WHY ARE THESE THINGS ALL CALLED THE SAME NAME????

They aren't. People call them the wrong things. Resistances are called "protection". Slash protection, etc.

If you want to have both benefits buy the simucoin encumberance potion and use your reinforcement. It should have the same effect.

There is someone who sells simucoin stuff for in game coins if you don't want to pay cash.

So is the answer to my question: "Yes, it only reduces encumbrance from picking up too much loot. It has no mechanical benefit otherwise."?

To be clear, I don't care about reducing encumbrance. I just want to know if doing so via armor support also conveys a mechanical advantage for things like maneuver rolls (similar to how overtraining in armor does)?

As far as I could tell when I tried it for a while. I preferred to use the potion and the evasion from rogues when I had a warrior.

Next question. Do CMAN (light blue) potions also reset ARMOR points? I don't do waiting.

I decided on a best of both worlds approach. I didn't have enough points for rank 5 of armor reinforcement anyway, having 45/60 left over after hitting rank 4 of armor reinforcement (which is what I've been using), so I spent the 45 points on two ranks of armor support so at least I can toss that to people when they ask for it.

Yes, those cman potions will reset your armor and shield points as well. Even says it when you read the order list: Instantly migrates any and all Shield, Armor, and Combat Maneuver list unlearned training points.

Yeah...it's been so long since I actually used my own points to buy one that armor barely existed at the time. Thanks for the concrete answer though.
