At my HS we had a shed in the far corner, I would just go behind it and smoke with a couple of people and then run out when the track kids were on their last lap.

3 miles at 10 minutes a mile is nothing. If you honestly are struggling, you need to get that asthma medicated or something.
We didn't have gym class at my high school (unfortunately) but I'd say 80% of the freshmen were on teams (by senior year, most people had jobs/drug problems).

<<3 miles at 10 minutes a mile is nothing.>>
Under 9 minutes a mile, actually. We had to go the full 30 minutes, so I ended up doing about 13 1/2 laps. I'm not struggling, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Lol, try 6 mile fun runs at a 7 minute mile pace through hills

I run 3 miles 3 times a week on a tredmill in about 28 minutes on a wrecked knee. If I did any more, I wouldn't be able to walk. In fact, I did it this morning and my knee is friggin' killing me. Damn ACL injuries. What I'd rather do is swim three miles. I need a house with a pool. I hate running but if I didn't, my ass would be huge.
oh and Ranger...that's exactly why I never joined the military.

Forgiveness, please. Being in shape is fun, Bob, seriously.
Heh we also used to run this trek called Solo point every monday and wednesday which was about 4.2 miles with the first half being about straight up. We had to come in under 34 minutes. That shit really blew

I liked gym.
I never had the inclination to play organized sports, but in gym i got to learn a whole bunch of different sports from football (Hey, I even learned to throw a decent spiral pass!) to ultimate frisbee to hockey and softball.
I was no incredible athlete but i enjoyed trying hard and had fun. It was an easy "A" every marking period.
I'll let Ranger do those nightmarish runs uphill though thanks!
Hrm, I do need to exercise more though. Maybe i'll take up juggling! :juggle:

I love gym class.
Then again, running 3 miles doesn't overly bother me. Nor do sports played in gym class (except basketball, which sucks.)
I'm also the guy that uses the weights after football practice. Meh.
I know not everyone is like that, but meh. Thats my two cents. If you don't like it, then suck it up :P

How about combining those three very insightful posts into a single post?
You don't get free footware for your postcount here.
I remember in the 9th grade we had to go to an abandoned school for about six weeks (well... it wasn't abandoned when we were in it) until our new school was finished. We would have to dress out in P. E. and then (with no showers or anything) put our clothes back on. Our P. E. teacher would always have us run (in 90-100% temps) because there was no other P. E. equipment there because it was temporary. It was my next to the last period of the day and my last period had at least five cute guys in it and I couldn't even put my hose back on because I was so sticky with sweat. (not to mention mascara running, etc) Good thing they were friends with me but I was still embarrassed. We didn't even have desks there, so on top of being all sweaty, I had to hold my notebook on my lap and work. (it would stick to my legs too... fun times... not)
It was so nice when our new air conditioned school was finished!

I never badmouthed physics. I like physics. However, my morning on fridays generally go:
Learn 10 new equations for how something moves from point A to point B. To make you think you aren't doing the same thing over and over again, we change the object moving between plane/boat/runner/car, and the place it's going to between house/dock/airport/garage. (motion unit = most boring part of physics. Optics is much better)
OMG TIME TO MEMORIZE THE TABLE OF ELEMENTS ALONG WITH IONIZATION AND ELECTRON AFFINITY LEVELS. AFTER THAT, FORGET IT ALL, AND MEMORIZE IT AGAIN.
(The bitch of a math equation I put in didn't work, but needless to say, advanced calculus can be a pain in the ass.)

Yea, usually. I dunno what the fuck but my entire platoon's time dropped like 2 minutes on the PT test I took tuesday. I came in at 13:50 giving me a 285 :(

I complained there were no showers. After running in 100% weather, a wet cool towel to wipe off the sweat before we put our clothes back on would have been nice. I even remember having deoderant in my P. E. locker when we finally got to the new school. I just hated being all sweaty, sticky and stinky for the rest of the day. No same sex fondling involved. (sorry to burst anyone's fantasies... you can pretend there was if you want)
The only sweat that isn't the type that makes me want to jump right in the shower is the after sex sweat. Just turn on the fan and bask... however... I digress.

Haha, I know what you mean. The only exciting thing about my high school physics class was a trip to Six Flags so we could apply what we learned to "Amusement park physics", the force behind the fun. Good stuff.
Gym class was such a breeze, who can complain. The only thing I disliked about gym class was our teacher being very overweight and having us run a million laps when it was obvious who needed to be doing it.

:?: Were you never a teenager? Zits and extreme modesty at 14 is normal. Guys don't usually like to show off their penis until they hit the jock stage in HS.
Tsa`ah
10-01-2004, 08:52 AM
No guy likes to show off the P in the shower. No guy really feels comfortable at that age showering with other guys, gay or not.
My point, and cruelly made, was that taking a shower after gym is going to help him reduce the acne and get rid of the funk that he thinks everyone loves to smell.
When I was in HS, if you came to class stinking ... you were sent to the PE teacher so he/she could make sure you washed your ass. Cruel? Only if you were a slob.
Unless you have some physiological disorder, there's not excuse for anyone to foul the air of the people they're around because of their rampant homophobia.
Acne as a teen is normal. Acne out of control because you like to stink, your own damned fault. Wash your ass.

Bob, take a shower in your swimming trunks if you don't want everyone to see your little wang. I say you suck it up, and wear your birthday suit to the shower though. 3.25 miles, I had cross country friends who ran 3.1 in 14 minutes and 26 seconds...granted, that's not me, I'm a sprinter, to hell with that long distance crap...
Oh, on Chadj's class schedule...you take that crap in 11th grade so you have more then enough credits to graduate mid semester your senior year, then you schedule 3 study halls last semester (first 3 classes so ya can come into school late every day 3 hrs), weight lifting, and take ceramics or something with all the hot chicks for good measure. If you do it right, all your college acceptance letters were taken care of prior too that final semester as long as you pass the one class you have left that matters. Just make sure when you orchestrate the senior prank next year, you don't get turned in by overzealous animal rights activists that almost cause you to be in suspension for more days then you can miss to pass that ONE class...Of course, you can always have the girls working the office skip over your card when scanning absences so that their records won't agree with the computers (whose you can argue are infallible) and strut up the podium to get your diploma while the dean seethes and your classmates hoot in approval.

If you knew anything about running, you'd probably realize that distance doesn't matter, it's how long you do it. That's if you want to get any benefit from it; I could run a lot faster, but I don't because I need to do it for 30 minutes straight.

Ummm, I was not judging your running, relax, but since you brought it up, I will tell you I can go outside, run 10 sprints in five minutes every day and get awsome results. However, I did run cross country too, and different people are affected in different ways by running...the longer I run, the more likely I am to damage myself, because running is a high impact excercise anyway (as opposed to say, swimming), and my muscle strands are short (sprinter type)...bottom line, I'm too heavy to run long distance.
How long you do anything is just one of many factors, and no factor at all if your quality of excercise and/or effort are poor.

Not as awesome as, say, someone who exercises properly. Aerobic exercise 3-4 times per week for 25-30 minutes is a hell of a lot better than doing more work for less time.
