Hello sirs and madams. I've been having trouble, or rather the complete inability to get lich.rbw to open the Wizard FE. I can log in with the SGE, just not Lich. I can sign in (with Lich), click a character to play and then nothing happens.
If anyone knows anything about how to fix this, feel free to comment. Alright.

Check your anti-virus / firewall and make sure the program is allowed. Politely remind the NSA that Gemstone is not a terrorist chat room.

^ Will do. I've tried tinkering around with UAC but it didn't seem to solve the issue.

This is still FUBAR. Bah.
Windows 8 directory paths are weird and so are account control settings which is making Lich not properly open the Wizard FE. Even after rewriting the Wizard command line it's still doing what I originally bitched about in this thread :-\
I might seriously downgrade to Vista once I've backed up my shniznod.

After you click play on the Lich game entry, you should see the Simutronics Launcher window checking for updates. If you didn't see this window (which is my assumption) try this:
Uninstall the Simutronics Launcher
Install the Simutronics Launcher by:
- Downloading it from http://www.play.net/software/lnchInst.exe by selecting "save" instead of "run"
- Find the file (lnchInst.exe) in Windows Explorer (the file manager)
- Right-click on the file and select "Run as administrator"
Try to log in with Lich
If you still don't see the Simutronics Launcher checking for updates, find C:\Program Files (x86)\Simu\Launcher.exe (or where ever it was installed), right click on it, click on properties, click on compatibility, check "Run this program as an administrator"
If that didn't fix it (and it probably didn't), try using a custom launch command. In the Lich game entry, click on the "custom launch command" checkbox. Click on the arrow next to the first text box that appears and click on the option that has Wizard.Exe in it. In the second text box, put "C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMU\WIZARD" or something different if that's not where you installed the WizardFE.

Okay, so I've managed to get lich to create a [temp] file called lich882.sal which I can then click on and run to get into GemStone, but this method only works once (the file is booted out of temp once used and is character specific) and I don't seem to be able to do a whole lot else.

Egh, I think I'm going to have to back up all my files (mostly music) and reinstall windows. I'm getting wacky stuff. Just a bunch off wacky. stuff.
Grrrr, I have RL stuff going on and bah.
