Haha, immensely. Maybe when 2.1 hits I'll give it another go, but for now I need something new.

I built a nice new desktop for gaming recently and have been using it mostly to play Civ5... I could probably also use a good game(thats not the battlefield beta)

Expeditions: Conquistadors is surprisingly good. It's like the older Exile/Geneforge series with some good RPG decision making along the way. 66% off right now.

The Wargame series is also really good if you want an RTS, but it will probably take some getting used to if you play more traditional RTS like Starcraft or whatever. Another game, Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star is a slightly slower paced, WW2 based RTS.

Shadowrun Returns scratches the Fallout itch but it's not quite on the same level. On the plus side it comes with a level editor and workshop support for custom missions.

Expeditions is a hoot, though the female conquistadors are a bit non historical.

I like Dragonfall much better than base Shadowrun Returns. There's a couple good adventure modules.

I've heard it's pretty good. It will probably go lower than 33% though.

Anyone have Dragons of Elan-, er, Divinity Dragon Commander? I've heard good things but I think it might go lower than 60%.

I have a problem :(

A game sounds really cool so I buy it then I'm like "Meh, I'll try it later."

Or I'll get partway through then I just get bored, even if the game is fun. I don't know. I used to buy games and play them exclusively until I finished it but lately I usually don't.

Maybe I have the video game playing equivalent of erectile dysfunction.

I know the feeling. When the sales come up I find myself buying games I already own on another system just so that I always have them. It took a lot of will power to take Skyrim and Borderlands 2 back out of the cart since I can see them sitting next to my X-Box.

So far I've picked up DA Origins, Witcher 1 and 2, and Half Life Complete. I'm still waiting to pick up Dishonored GOTY, Brave New World, and a few other things.

Just an FYI for people who might not know, DoW2 ran off Games for Windows Live, which was recently shut down. The devs are in the process of converting it to Steam (with achievements!) but until that's completed DoW2 just crashes on startup. It's a pretty cool thing to do; they don't really have any obligation to continue to support it.

I'm up to 20 whole games on Steam now, and that's only because the MMO-C moderators have a thread for throwing up spare keys they get for buying other stuff.

Although The Stanley Parable for $6, Terrarria for $2, Skyrim for $5 if you somehow still don't have it....can't beat this. Arkham Origins and hit man absolution for $7.50 and $4 respectively, for 8 more hours, wow. I heard Origins was kind of a retread, but still, that's a good price.

There are a bunch of early access/greenlight 'scams'. Look at Towns. It's being marketed as a full game, but was abandoned halfway through development so it will never be finished. In a lot of ways it feels like Steam is becoming more of a shovelware collection point.

Eh, I was just selling my summer cards when they were going for like 40-50 cents a pop. I have enough other cards to make badges in case my team (red) looks like they're going to win so I can get in on the raffle. Even if it's fixed I at least get a free game or two from selling and the chance to dream at a few free games from the raffle.

I am glad that in some of the more egregious examples (Earth 2066, War Z) they offered refunds, but Steam needs to take more control over early access standards.

I just checked out the Towns forums. Pretty amazing Steam let's this shit slide. I guess as long as they are making money who cares, right?

People give EA shit for their Origin but it seems like Origin sells, y'know, completed games. The first time I saw an "early access" game on Steam I shook my head and here I am almost 2 years later still shaking my head.

People are claiming "Prison Architect" is a great game and I dunno, maybe it is. I just think it's shitty that it's been "early access" for almost 2 years now at a 29.99 price tag. Maybe Steam should tell developers they can only charge 9.99 at most for an "early access" game to get them to actually finish the game.

Only like once though, right? Then your account is flagged and NEVER AGAIN.

Origin has the Great Game policy which seemingly lets you return a game if you have less than a certain amount of time logged and within a few days of purchase. I don't really want to test it out though because I avoid EA games.

No, more than once. If you have a legit reason (like the game was in alpha state for the last year and development is dead) then they'll give it back no problem. If you buy a game and play 150 hours of it and then decide it sucks and want your money back though, yeah.. Probably not.

The only thing that will fuck your Steam up forever is if you cheat in MP in a game hosted through Steam's servers.

The competition should be a lot closer than it is now. A new team winning by a huge landslide every day? Come on now. Blue has close to 5x as many points as everyone else. There are no weird market fluctuations going on so I don't think the wins are being generated by users.

Farming Simulator is pretty fucking awesome though.

Just looking at my friends list the ones that are huge in to Reddit scored massive amount of points on their color's day. I think the fact that there are no huge market fluctuations is actually a point to the player market going with the whole "everyone wins twice" plan. If you look at the team change tokens Blue is predictably going for a lot, but purple (who should be tomorrow's winner based upon the schedule) is going for the second highest. I'd like to believe that if Valve was manipulating the contest they could come up with a little more randomization in the days teams won.

Seems a Small change in winners...

Starting today, more people will win free games!
1st place team
30 team members who scored points will win 3 games
2nd place team
20 team members who scored points will win 2 games
3rd place team
10 team members who scored points will win 1 game

may see more fighting over 2nd and 3rd place now.

5% per transaction I believe.

Taernath
06-25-2014, 11:55 PM
There's a ~13% transaction fee, minimum of 2c. Sell something for $10, get $8.70.

1 random card in my inventory is going for 11c, and has sold ~1500 in the past 24 hours. At 13% that's $21.45 Valve makes off that single card per day. Multiply that by every other card available (some of which are much more expensive) and they are raking in quite a lot of money.

The plus side is that people who are not interested in badges at all can just trade what cards they get for pure profit. I sold a couple of summer badge foils for $6 (78c of which became Valve's).

Lucky jerk.. I have NEVER gotten a foil card. I have like 210 games.. and I generally play most to at least get the card drops. Zero Foils.

I actually was just noodling around on Banner Saga and pulled my first foil. Stupid question time. Do the foil badges do anything special or is it just an e-peen thing?

E-Peen. Only one level to them, and other then more points for the summer sale challenge.. do nothing extra really. maybe a few more extra items for crafting, but not really certain.

I think I've gotten around 5 total since the card thing began. I'm also level 50 though which doubles my chances of a booster drop.

Yeah.. After I get my drops, I buy/trade for the rest of the set and craft the badge. Then I just wait for boosters. I get maybe 1 a week.

Today I'll get the Metro bundle (played the non-Redux versions but you can't beat $9.99) and the Homeworld remastered collection, since I never did play them.

It is 19.99 on Amazon also, but you like... Still have to activate it and download it via steam so... Whatever.

My amazon code was a prepurchase key though, so this extra shit:

What do you get if you buy before release?

Five additional in-game items (Basketball Court, Botanical Gardens, Merry-go-round, Bouncy Castle, Dog Park), adding fun, style and practicality to any town!
Digital art book containing building blueprints and other original concept art
Four digital postcards

It's alright. Really buggy on launch, but it's a by the numbers AssCreed.

I got Doom. It's a good shooter, but I miss the 2spookyness of the original DOS ones. Here it's just run to the next open arena and unload rockets on waves of enemies.

I mean, it's not a bad game. The controls are tight, shooting is great as are the graphics. Music is pretty good too. But there's no atmosphere, no sense of dread. Playing on Ultraviolence I go into and leave every encounter close to full health and ammo. Most of my deaths have come from platforming fails, and if I'm running low on health or ammo I chainsaw the biggest dude around and am almost completely replenished.

pillars is excellent, you'll love it.

I found myself riding around the world in Witcher just looking for opponents to play the card game- I found Geralt to be a complete Mary Sue- making him uninteresting, so I never felt compelled to move the story forward.

Im hoping pillars is good, I like those kinds of games.

Im not really worried about Geralt being a mary sue. In these types of games, I end up power gaming anyway, so I dont mind being the One Above All.

I kinda felt that way with the first two Witcher games, but the third went a long way in establishing Geralt as a flawed background character who most people dislike. They also removed that ridiculous sex card collection game. Now Ciri on the other hand...

Was able to finally get a few games off my wishlist, since I had some spare money to burn:

Baldur's Gate II Extended Edition
Age Of Mythology Extended Edition
Banished
Magicka DLC (Dungeons & Gargoyles)

Have BG2 & AoM on cd/dvd, but no cd/dvd player on my main computer (an ultrabook), so having a Steam version was way up there on my "want" list.

Overall, pretty happy with my Steam Summer haul. Already delving into BG2, and cheating to create the perfect party. *snicker*

There is a difference between a graphical game and a text game. There is no irony, they are completely different. It is like saying this old CGI sucked compared to the new CGI they have, and then calling it ironic because you said it over a text message.
