Just released today. I picked it up for PC and am DLing it on steam right now. 40 damn gig download though. Haven't played Wolfenstein since... The original one. Looks fun though. Anyone else planning to get it?
Pretty awesome they remade a bunch of oldies into German songs for the game too
House of the Rising Sun? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_artPecEaM
Boom, Boom? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ4HAxnb0cQ
Several others too.

I'm keeping my eye on it. It looks pretty good but I'm probably going to wait for a sale or something.
40 damn gig download though.
We are living in a brave new world.

Reviews I've read basically imply it is the old school Wolfenstein with better graphics, a story, and a couple of the newer things from FPS' tossed in like perks, stealth, and weapon mods.
Like the original, you need to collect armor and health and you can carry all of your weapons instead of having a specific load out. No multiplayer is a little weird for a modern FPS though, but I suppose that means the single player story writing and such was a lot more heavily focused on.

Some do it pretty well, like the Metro series. I'm more inclined to get a purely single player FPS than I am a purely multiplayer one, anyway.

With the stupidly large number of indie games released on Steam in the last year or so, I'm finding myself able to spend a lot less on gaming, and the appeal of a $40-$50 title for something like this just doesn't make sense to me.
That's not to say that indie games are universally good, or can really hold a candle to fully developed games like this, but at the end of the day, the objective of playing any video game isn't necessarily to be an amazing wonder of technology, it's just to keep our time occupied so we forget how painful it is to continue to slowly die in our decaying flesh sacks.

I haven't paid 60 bucks for a game in a while now (I think Diablo 3 was the last one) but heck, this is Wolfenstein! I can't wait for a sale!
Damn I love my new internet connection; 1 hour for a 40.7 gig download. I would have been downloading until tomorrow night with my old connection.

I just finished the "prologue". This game is definitely Wolfenstein. I love it. And holy crap, the voice acting and story just to now has been top notch.
Some of the controls for movements are wonky as shit though. Like a running slide requires you to hold W and left shift + left ctrl. I can't see myself using that a lot.

MP was by far the best things about RTCW and ET. Without it I would be sad. Back in the days when you had to actually GIB people.

I read something about it coming with Doom beta access.
Anyone know anything about that? I didn't even know a new Doom was in the works, but after hearing of it my erection has yet to go away, and it's been much longer than 4 hours.

I think it was a preorder bonus.
After Rage I'm not sure anymore about Doom, which has been in development for... I dunno, 6 years? Not usually a good sign. Here's a link for more info (http://kotaku.com/five-years-and-nothing-to-show-how-doom-4-got-off-trac-468097062), sorry about it being Gawktaku.

I have Doom Beta, yeah. Haven't played yet. It is a preorder bonus, but I ordered the game today and still got a code for it.

Ah, reminds me of the days when sound cards weren't standard issue in computers. Playing Wolfenstein and Doom where opening doors sounded the same as rockets being fired sure did suck. Having a sound card was a pretty big advantage in multiplayer games.

This is a AAA title. That is a "nightmare" you can have while sleeping that puts you into Wolfenstein 3d from 1992. Everything changes to 1992 graphics except for your hands and weapon.
Heh, the entire game isn't like that.

I remember being totally blown away after playing like that for a while and then getting a sound card. I was like OMG OMG OMG OMG REALISM WTF!!!!!!11
Then I did the same with Robin Hood, Police Quest 3 and King's Quest VI and was like...

Well this sucks. I was all excited to start playing this game tonight and the game won't launch on Steam. It just says it's preparing to load then nothing happens. Checked the forums on Steam and apparently I'm not alone in this problem.

I've had this issue with previous games if you're trying to save it to a HDD that isn't the HDD where your OS resides.
Otherwise, I'm out of ideas! We can play Risk of Rain instead...

That would be exactly what happened here but I was trying to avoid putting this massive game on my relatively small SSD :/
Man oh man, Comcast is gonna love me if I download this game again within the same month.

Why does Steam always have to be gay?
Why can't consoles offer real mouse support so people don't have to deal with that shit?
Why do I care since I haven't bought the game yet?

I got it the other day, and man... it's pretty good. Wolfenstein feels like the game RAGE was trying to be. There is still some minor megatexture pop in but they don't look so shitty close up. The story is coherent and you can play however you want to.
Yeah, I got this recently. Great game. It stays true to the original. I would advise people to wait until the price drops. $60 seems like way to much to pay for a game these days.

Because people who play games using keyboards and a mouse are gay? As consoles and their players are straight, I wouldn't expect this anytime soon. Oil and water, ya know.

Well I mean if consoles are cool with losing out on sales to the PC version because they wanna be all gay, that's their gayness gaying things up.
I know the PC version is usually better anyway, but for those of us PC master race people whose friends are console peasants, it would be nice to be able to come down from Mount Olympus and share a game of violence with the regulars.
FPS games are pretty much the only game I refuse to play with a controller. It's just a terrible, terrible experience. It'd be like playing a FPS on PC with just a keyboard. But with less buttons, which would still be worse.

I'll take your word for it. Not counting gs, the last game I played on a computer was Oregon Trail.

It's a standalone game, too. So I think you'll be able to buy it without having Wolfenstein itself. But you'd be dumb not to have Wolfenstein, though.
The DLC is said to be $20

All told the campaign was ~8 hours, with me generally messing up on stealth sections and only finding 4 nightmares. There are challenge maps where you fight waves of enemies, similar to certain sections of the campaign if you trip an alarm or are spotted. The shooting is still very good though, so even at full price it's definitely worth it.
