I know I've been gone and fallen off the face of the planet for like, two years (????) but I figure for those who I am not friends with on the book of Face, it may be of some interest that I popped out crotchfruit of my own last Thursday!

This is Paul, aka Babysaurus.

He was born 9 lbs, 10 oz after a 38 hour labor and two epidurals (one failed) that really and truly sucked balls. He was 2 and a half weeks past his due date and not too interested in the whole "being born" thing so on the plus side, he ruined my abdomen via c-section rather than my vajeen.. That being said, he's a pretty calm little dude who's talents include eating, pooping, sleeping, and doing absolutely amazing potato imitations.

Congrats and it is nice to see a mom with your glow.

Thank you! Though I have to admit, I went into the hospital at 7am on Wednesday and didn't get to take a shower until 10 am that Saturday, so the shower was like riding a unicorn, it was that magical.. I'm not sure how much of my glow is new mom happiness and how much is "HOLY SHIT I FEEL LIKE A PERSON AGAIN." Hobbling around attached to an IV pole with your ass hanging out of a hospital gown while a nurse sponge bathes you doesn't do much for the soul.

I was pretty afraid of smothering him to death trying to breastfeed, the nurses had to have a pep talk with me that despite their general inability to do much, infants do not allow themselves to be easily smothered by titties, even big ones, unless you work at smothering them.

Congratulations! He looks beautiful. 38 hours of labor, holy crap, a couple more hours and you could have applied for overtime pay.

Also, great name choice.

I'm basically doomed to have the most ridiculously demonic children ever, which is why I'm confused that he's so laid back. It's still very early though, I have my suspicions he's trying to lure me into a false sense of security.

I would love a baby quilt!

Make sure to screen it for smallpox first, Nikkisaurus.

If she's smart (which she is), she'll wash anything a virtual stranger sends her before letting it near her baby.

Besides, where does one acquire a smallpox sample anyway? Just curious is all, honest!

Got your address but what's his initials? I got this super fancy sewing machine that has a monogram setting that I want to check out.

Tisket
05-02-2014, 04:26 PM
Also, be aware that monograms are traditionally first, last, middle. So John Jackson Doe would be monogrammed "JDJ" with the surname framed by the first and middle initials.

If, to save confusion, you want it first, middle, last though I can do that too.

In case anyone thinks I'm making this shit up, this is from Wikipedia:

An individual's monogram is often a very fancy piece of art used for stationery, for adorning luggage, for embroidery on clothing, and so forth. These monograms may have two or three letters.
A traditional 3-letter monogram has the initial of the individual's last name (surname) set larger, or with some special treatment in the center, while the first name initial appears to the left of it and the middle name initial appears to the right of it. For example, if the individual's name is Mary Ann Jones, and Jones is the surname, then the arrangement of letters would be thus: MJA, with the surname initial set larger in the center, the M for Mary to the left and the A for Ann to the right.[5] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monogram#cite_note-3LM-5)
Married or engaged couples may use two-letter monograms of their entwined initials, for example on wedding invitations (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_invitations). Married couples may also create three-letter monograms incorporating the initial of their shared surname. For example, the monogram MJA might be used for Michael and Alice Jones.[5] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monogram#cite_note-3LM-5) However, monogramming etiquette for the married couple varies according to the item being monogrammed. Linens, for example, typically list the woman's given initial first, followed by the couple's shared surname initial and then the man's given

You'd have to break into the CDC. I'm pretty sure they have the last remaining sample in the world.

Bigger babies seem to be more laid back than tiny babies. My son was 8 lbs 15 oz and was cool as a cucumber for the first 3 months. I just had a daughter who is three weeks old now. She was tiny - 6 lbs, and has been a roaring nightmare until she recently hit 8 lbs. Congrats on the little Dino, they really do grow up fast - enjoy them while they don't talk back to you!
