Figured I'd make a new topic since it isn't discussing Beta sign ups anymore. I just preordered this on Amazon, but I haven't gotten my early access code. Does it usually take a little bit? Is there something else I have to do?

I bought it through the ESO online store and didn't have to enter any codes, so I don't know what to tell you. Feel free to send a friend request to @Nilandia once you get in game, and if you play Aldmeri Dominion we could quest together. I would recommend considering the upgrade to Imperial Edition, since you get a horse for 1 gold at the stable on all of your characters. Otherwise it's over 14k for a basic horse. I also don't know if you get the Explorer's Pack from Amazon that would let you play any race in any faction, but it might be a factor.

I'm on early access, add @Anonymous_Clay if you're so inclined. So far just trying out all the classes and some builds, lots of messing around.

I called Amazon, they said it hadn't generated and that I should get it soon. Well, I hope it comes before the regular launch. And yeah, I got the Imperial Edition. You get the explorer pack too, and a $5 amazon games gift certificate.

Enjoying it. I'm an IMP DK with Covenant. Ran Spindlegultch for the first time last night. I'm glad it wasn't a cake walk. The grouping dynamic is more like City of Heroes so tanks really have to be on their toes and DPS has to keep an eye on any mobs rushing the healer.
We ran it with tank, two melee dps and a healer. A caster dps would have been helpful.
Definitely enjoyable.

Since our guild is in a Cyrodiil campaign that has utterly obliterated any opposition, we've been doing skyshard runs while we still get the chance. Today we started at 2pm Eastern and ended around 1am, but we got all of them in all of the faction territories.
Best part was getting past an enemy's gate and picking off a couple stragglers who were foolish enough to get in our way toward the next shard, only to be cut down when 15 guys on horses suddenly zerg rushed the 8 of us. That and making fun of the Bosmer's pony since it was shorter than everyone else's horse.

You're probably missing stuff, then. Head to every marker and "empty" spot on your map and you'll likely find a new quest area. I just entered Shadowfen and hit 25 right before I ran out of quests in the last zone. Leveling is pretty much right on par with where I need to be.

At level 30, I have Max Magicka(1188), Spell Resistance(1100), and Armor(1024) all overcharged. Magicka recovery WAS overcharged until I took off the ring. I'm pretty certain my health is a hair away from being overcharged too. Sorcs are just too easy!
Find my first artifact too. It was off a trash mob, too bad it is a weapon I can't use. Well, I can, since you can use any weapon, but it isn't one I want to use. Although, honestly, I could probably be a tanking sorc. A torc? A sank? Whatever!
Oh, to add on to that post... I am also a vampire now. Anyone want to get bit? I can bite one person every 7 days. If you are below 30, the quest might be a little difficult for you (you have to kill a bunch of level 40 mobs). It'd be easiest if you are Covenant, but I suppose for the others, we could meet up in Cyrodil. Oh yeah, I'll do this for free since I myself didn't pay for it either. That's pretty cool that they have vampirism in ESO. Do they have lycanthropy too? Are there any drawbacks to being one? Do you see it turning into something like post-NGE Star Wars where a difficult to acquire but powerful 'class' is suddenly made easily available?
I suppose I could google this but I'm pretty lazy.
Gelston
04-08-2014, 12:07 PM
They have Lycan also. Vampires are 50% more susceptible to fire and werewolves are 50% to poison and something else. The fighter's guild also have passives that destroy vampires in pvp... If anyone ever bothers to level that up. Vampires tend to be better for heavier magic users and night blades while werewolves would be your more physical types.
It is balanced pretty well I think. People can basically spec against them... As for common, it already seems common and easy to obtain to me.

Werewolves shift from an ultimate ability. Maxed out they can do it for 2 minutes every 5 minutes, or with a group of 4 other werewolf players, for 2:36.
No, vamps don't burn in the sunlight. They are actually a sort of different kind in this game. They are called "Scions". It'd be way too much of a pain in the ass to burn in sunlight though. You'd be barred from playing for like 12 hours out of the day. I am pretty certain the day/night scale is 4 hour rotations.

And now you can buy max level in WoW directly from Blizzard for cash!!
People hit 50 in FF 14 in a weekend. Most games are like that now, super fast to cap... then nothing to do. Then the people bitch about no content at cap. And demand updates for content.. just for them basically.

I'll correct you. The level cap was 60. But it was just like anything else, some people raced to the cap stupid fast, other people took forever. But I think a month and change was about average to hit that first cap.

A little over a month sounds about right for the average player. It was hard to level fast back then because higher level zones had elite mobs and the quests often had weird design. Plus the reduced XP; you used to have to do nearly all the quests in every zone to hit max.
Gelston
04-11-2014, 10:53 AM
They have already announced a new endgame zone. If they keep pace and put out content often it will be amazing. Part of the main quest that leads to the endgame area was broken. We sat around for like 12 hours waiting. Finally got it about an hour ago. Heard it broke again though. Looks like people who made it past will have a sizeable lead in Veteran levels.

Okay the L50 I must had been thinking of was AION. WoW Classic took me about 2 months, and I was playing multiple hours a day. And yes, sometimes you had to fully clear entire zones to be able to level. So as a result, it really did foster the feeling of a long journey, when you had do any major traveling by foot & boat. I remember feeling overwhelmed by the time/effort it took to get from Stormwind to the Menthril harbor area, to be able to go to Darnassus.

A lot of the people who are veterans have probably played a lot of the beta and know exactly how to level fast, so it's not surprising that they got there so quickly.
There is still a lot of content once you get to the veteran ranks in ESO. In addition to the PVP of Cyrodiil (trying to take the throne of Tamriel and such) and veteran level dungeons, you can travel to the homelands of the other two factions to do their quests. The levels have been adjusted for veterans, but it leaves a huge amount of stuff to do.

What made you decide to go with High Elf?
I wanted to play a spellcaster, and their racial passives are amazing for sorcerers.
Also, yesterday was a nonstop adrenaline rush of PVP. The Dominion was controlling everything in our campaign to the point where the guild complained of it being boring. But yesterday EP and DC both attacked and started rolling through the campaign. We're pretty sure that they coordinated the attack. Early in the attack, I was out alone in Cyrodiil trying to clear up some quests from my log when suddenly about 6 DC came riding into town on horseback. I never sprinted for a keep so hard in my life!
12 hours later, it was still going strong, and I was loving every minute of it. I read this morning that everything was finally retaken around 6am Eastern. My guild was also seriously amazing with arranging the attack group, planning tactics, and letting this MMO and PVP noob pitch in without being made to feel like she was a burden. I don't think I could take doing it every day, but I'm most certainly going to be fighting again. Other guild members also said that they hadn't planned on the PVP being so addictive. But standing outside a keep with 10 trebuchets trying to smash down a door, all the while dodging arrows and firepots whizzing by your ear... there's nothing like it.

Hit VR1 around the same time.
For people that were asking earlier...you can easily hit 50 in ESO in ~20-25 hours of playtime. Find one other person and aoe grind things if you want to power level. It's especially bonkers if you do undead/daedra, pick up the fighter's guild skill expert hunter. Chance to proc damage of roughly ~1/4 the mobs health and it's essentially permanent when grinding, i mean...it's always permanent as it's trivial to keep up but, it refreshes the duration when you kill something so, don't even have to bother recasting. There are some absolutely insane areas to grind in as well. If you're daggerfall the town with the zombie invasion in the north of the zone is crazy, for instance. The mobs are weaker than normal but give normal experience gains so i could basically kill a pack of 3 with 2 spells, just run to the next.
I'm a completionist on my first playthrough so i've done every quest, skyshard, lorebook, etc. up till this point. The only thing i've missed was some of the group instanced dungeons (have done all the public group dungeons). I was too lazy to find groups in chat and the group finder is pretty awful, mostly because people don't use it. I grinded very little (just 41-43 because I had a huge purple weapon upgrade that was min level 43 i wanted to use. Also, it only took me 40 minutes to go from 41-43 using the above grinding method so...yeah) I hit 50 about halfway through coldharbour.
The main questline is apparently bugged so i'll run into that soon. That limits your VR progression to PVP or veteran dungeons since you can't get to the other zones until you complete the main line. I'll start pvping more now and between sessions of that probably start grinding alts to 50 before they fix the ridiculous exp train. I figure with only 4 classes I may as well get them all to cap :D

The volcanic rune morph of the mage's guild fire rune spell (adds a knockup + stun) is god damn hilarious on my DK. if i'm fighting a melee i just drop it and stand on it, if they come at me (bro) they get knocked up and set on fire, i step back and drop another to stand on. if they switch to ranged, i firey chains them and they get pulled in, which then knocks them up and they get set on more fire. If they try to run, i switch to my two hander and charge them, then they get set on fire.
long story short, mother fuckers gettin set on fire.

Been pvping a bit (bloodthorn campaign). One of my heterosexual gaming life partners got emperor, which was fun. I'll be doing it more now but, i have quest OCD for my first playthrough so I gotta catch em all.
But yeah, i used the shit out of the duffy stuff while leveling. For skyshards there's a great map addon (just called skyshards) on esoui I use instead now. Just adds them to the minimap. There's another that adds all the various things from the ESOHead database but, esohead still isn't completely accurate i think. Needs more info submitted to it but it's mostly correct. I'm probably just spoiled by being used to the 10 million people sending data for wow. I still use the duffy lorebook stuff.
There's also the interactive maps on tamrielfoundry that I like for finding the random quest hub you missed/world boss/etc.:

So, VR 2 now, close to 3. I started getting these creepy voices when I kill things now like "So many dead just for your entertainment" and "Repent for your sins" and stuff like that. It isn't quest or area related. Maybe I'm going to be invited into the Dark Brotherhood soon?!?
No, it's not the Dark Brotherhood, but I did like that voice when I had it. Almost sad when it stopped.
Right now I've rolled up three new alts to work on crafting. I intend eventually to master all crafts so I can make gear for my guild or to sell. Already mastered alchemy and I'm headed into provisioning now.

Just to put it out there, I'm a master alchemist (surprise surprise!) and I'd be glad to make potions for whoever needs. I'm fully trained in all alchemist skills, so I can make potions with up to three effects and it will never have any negative effects. Alchemy is separate from provisioning in that provisioning provides a low-level and longer-lasting effect, while alchemy can give a shorter and more powerful boost. Both can be used at the same time!
I'm looking for 2 sets of Breton racial motifs. I have every other basic motif available for trade aside from dark elves, and I have three of the high elves. I'm also looking for onehanded axes and lightning destro staves to research for crafting. Any level is welcome, since it'll just be destroyed in the research process. I'm working on training up provisioning, so any recipes that anyone happens to find will be much appreciated! I'll be more than happy to trade or give coin in return.

I don't have a problem with the nerfing of the end game stuff before it gets removed, which has been pretty much what happens. Comes out super hard, all the people who are really hardcore finish it anyway, then they nerf it so that people can actually see the content. I do actually really like what Blizz is doing with the multiple difficulty settings per raid to just kind of bake that in, and then hopefully stop nerfing the "real" raid.

They're all around 10 ranks each at the moment, but I've got a crafting buddy. We send finished pieces to each other for the other to break down. Yeah, well, I'm working on crafting on a few alts, so I have to level them up, work on crafting, gather materials and coordinate with my crafting buddy. It all takes time. My current main is 28, and I have other alts at 12, 9 and 9.
Alchemy is easier than blacksmithing, woodworking and clothier, so long as you have a steady supply of materials. Alchemy doesn't seem to look at a character's level when generating inspiration, where the other three will start giving decreasing returns if you deconstruct items that are more than 5 levels over yours.
For the greatest inspiration gain, train up the skill that lets you use higher level solvents and make the highest level potions you can. Cyrodiil is a fantastic source of level 40 solvents, particularly the northern and southern shores of Lake Rumare at the center. You'll also gain inspiration when you discover a new ingredient ability, which you do when two ingredients in a potion you make share an ability that you have yet to discover. There are charts on the interwebs that list each ingredient's abilities.

I'm going slowly, because I'm still playing FFXIV semi-hardcore at this point. (Plus I keep rolling new characters because I'm indecisive as all get out!) But I did my first "public dungeon" last night, Crows' Wood. Not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, it's nice to be able to just pop into a dungeon with a bunch of other players and just hack and slash through the quest objectives. On the other, when I got to the boss, I got my ass handed to me alone. Nobody listens to zone chat, so I was forced to sort of wait around next to the boss for two other players to come charging in before we could take it down.
Is that pretty much indicative of the rest of the game's public dungeons? If it is, I'll know to try to get into a party before the next one. It just makes me question the point of making them public as opposed to instanced if a group is required anyway if you're at or near the level of the dungeon. (Boss was 5; I was 7.)

The whole veteran rank thing just sucked all the enjoyment I had out of leveling or finding/crafting gear. I was hoping to make characters on different factions to see the story, but I guess that's stupid since they run you through them all anyway.
Haven't cancelled yet, but after veteran and a couple alt characters in the 10-20 range, I'm not very interested in continuing the quest lines. I was already skipping dialogue and trying to finish quests on my first character, now the MMO tedium is setting in hardcore.
I'm not seeing much to do that involves interacting with other players either, my guess is that's all capped content, which I'm having a hard time caring enough to get to.
SpiffyJr

Really a shitty problem to be in with MMO's.
People complain that there's no content in most that are released and end up rushing to cap and having to wait for months to get something out. What did they do for ESO? Give you a ton of content to do and now people complain that it takes too long to cap or that questing is boring. WoW has completely fucking ruined people on MMO's. They might as well make the level cap five or ten and just release 50 raids for any new MMO or even just remove leveling all together. Doing anything else is completely setting yourself up for failure. New WoW expansions are only 5-10 levels which can be burned through really really quick and that's what people expect now. It's fucking horrible.
I'm VR4 and before I "cap" the first major content patch will be out. To me, that sounds like it's just right.
*EDIT*
For the record I'm loving ESO. Currently at VR4 and I don't feel I've had to "grind" anything. The zones are setup with the proper amount of quests to get you to the next level and the quests are, for MMO standards, superb. Very few tedious quests such as "kill X" or "loot X" and a lot more story aligned quests. Most of the time I just bum rush through the dialogue but when I do find one that I'm particularly interested in I'll read it and the writing is generally very well done.

honestly WoW didnt figure into my decision at all being as I couldnt stand the way it was designed and stopped playing that after a month as well. The biggest problem in ESO to me was the way PvP worked. I love the open world concept but hated being pigeon-holed into a certain number of abilities I could slot and the fact that healing couldn't be targeted. If I am a good player then why should I have to stop at even 12 total abilities set to my qbars? Healing was an ever bigger issue despite me never getting around to leveling a healing class too high. If I see someone in my group who has just been targeted by the enemy why cant I heal them before the random 6 people around me that the game arbitrarily chooses? It seems to me that the game was designed around being console ready(despite not being out on consoles) and it leaves the PC players out to dry. Also there was nothing to work towards. I hit the max PvP rank in less than week. Short of trying to be emperor I ran out of things to accomplish in PvP.
Im not a long-time ESO fan nor am I a huge fan of MMORPG's. My favorite one to date was DAoC and maybe that spoiled me. Either way I am probably waiting until Camelot: Unchained(DAoC 2) comes out next year before I jump back in.

For MMO standards, I would put ESO above most of the others. I just don't feel they're doing anything innovative, merely refining what has already been successful. I completely understand that mentality, but I was really hoping for something more involved. It's a great game all things considered, and if I hadn't played a bunch of MMO's before this one, I'd probably be hooked.

If this was their intent then they failed miserably. It had the graphics of ESO with the storyline of a color by numbers book. Grouping with friends/guildies is difficult or not possible(if they already finished the quest). The PvP failed pretty hard unless youre OK with zerging. Guilds in general are worthless except to access the guild auction house. I HATED the PvP in WoW yet I would still take that over what they tried to give us in ESO.

PvE content is also way too easy for me. Either that or Templar is OP, or some combination. 95% of the game, I press 1 button and aedric spear every mob in front of me. The only time I don't go 1,1,1,1,1 is on bosses, where it's 2,3,4,5,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1. Eh.
So I made other characters, but replaying the same quests over is just not exciting.

Sorry that's your experience, but mine's been completely different. I lucked out and joined a phenomenal guild of experienced MMO players who are also a ton of fun. Multiple events of various flavors are held each week, and we've set up teams of interested crafters to work together and help each other gain skill. Already have someone in the guild at 50 in all crafting skills and more are soon to follow. Gold pretty much has no meaning for me now, aside from feeding horses, repairing gear and buying bag space. Everything else I can make or get from guildies.
PVP is ridiculously addictive for me. I don't fall in with the zergs, but group up with people in my guild or an allied guild. We head to voice chat to coordinate actions and usually have a commander to follow. We make use of the zerg, rather than join it, and we've been pretty successful.
I'll grant that the storylines are a bit linear, but they do throw some curveballs every so often. There have been a few times where I genuinely had no clue which option to pick, because there was no clear best choice. I haven't even finished my own faction's area, and I'm looking forward to more hard choices. I also like that the quests have actual stories behind them, and I enjoy listening to the voiced dialogue.
Still, your experiences may be different from mine. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Which faction are you on? I may just swap over to yours. I'm only 43-44 now so it's not, Ike that's more than a few weeks play. My big issue is the nonexistent grouping/guild stuff outside of dungeons. Everything is easy mode. WoW just did it right in the first 50. Just enough content was hard enough that only a few classes could effectively solo it all. Eventually, that changed to where everyone could solo everything.
I started with some Wildstar and it reminds me a lot of WoW, which is good and bad because that only held my attention through two or three expansions. Looks like I might be back in Gemstone sooner than I thought and almost $200 poorer.

Some of the decisions are actually pretty interesting from a storytelling perspective. However, I quickly realized my decisions made absolutely 0 difference in anything other than (at most) my next few immediate quests. I had really hoped the "important" moral decisions would actually be, you know, IMPORTANT. Perhaps selections would open and close some quest lines, giving replay added value.
Something akin to early Fallout and other heavy dialogue RPG's of that style.

That would probably make later game quest grouping even more of a pain in the ass. It'd be really cool, but I just think it would require way to much for an MMO.
No MMO will EVER be in the same league as a single player.

I was really hoping for a more sandbox approach, and they went with a more linear-quest plus PvP approach. That's fine, just not my thing. Done it before.
There is a *significant* hurdle to having a sandbox *AND* level progression. If you have areas scale with level the only real way to do that is to phase the content. It would be so phased at that point that it might as well be single player. How many level 13-15 people would be in, say, the Rift, at a time?
They'd have to remove leveling entirely, which I'm fine with, and do a skill progression system of some sort. Even then you still have an issue where content may be too hard for your skill set. It's not a trivial issue to solve and that's probably why no one has really done it.
The last sandbox I played was SWG and a fresh character couldn't go out and kill a Rancor or anything. Even though that game didn't have levels it still had "scaling" in the sense you can't go and fight whatever you want whenever you want.

Just because there's a large ass zerg running around doesn't mean you have to follow it. Same thing happened in GW2. People ran around with the Zerg while my group of 3-5 would go and take points on our own and crush people. It sounds to me like you want arena/battleground style PvP and not WvW, which is fine, but completely different mentalities.

Ok I'm done, I'm still playing but those are my complaints. Hopefully I can find enough things to get excited about to keep playing since they just charged me my subscription.
Did you get to veteran yet and try those dungeons? They're certainly not easy with respect to your typical MMO dungeon.

They do an inverse in ESO. Normal content is retarded easy and veteran content is a massive scale up. People complain about veteran content getting harder as you go up but I personally feel it's staying about the same.

I was hardly running with the zerg. I had a few different groups I ran with but mostly we did our own thing or worked around the zerg. The biggest problem to me with PvP is that after achieving the highest rank(took about a week) there was nothing to go for. IMO DAoC was the best open world concept I have ever seen. Very similar to how ESO was set up except they had individual and guild leaderboards, weekly, monthly and overall point totals. Gave people something to strive for when PvE wasnt what appealed to them. Once I hit the max PvP rank and saw that I was 150k behind the current emp I realized it wasnt worth it.
It just feels like ESO tried to balance everyone TOO much instead of letting the skilled players be skilled. I disliked how they boosted sub cap players to be more competitive, would have rather they had their own battleground. disliked how I was stuck to two bars of 5+1 skills(are they trying to keep everyone on par with the future console users who have a limited number of available buttons?). My fingers can work quickly, stop holding them back. I had to nearly stop using any sort of interrupt because I didnt have the space. Certain abilities can just be spammed when there should be a cooldown or at the very least the person who was hit should gain a slight immunity to being hit immediately afterwards by the same root or whatever it may be.
Saying I wanted arena PvP couldnt be further from the truth, I HATED WoW's arena PvP system. I just prefer smaller group coordination and dont want to be restricted as much. As I said in my previous post, DAoC was the best game I have played to date for what I enjoy. I am eagerly awaiting the new one.
This video sums up a lot of the problems very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov3B26h12C4

To be honest, I've seen Angry Joe's reviews of ESO and he comes off as someone determined not to like the game. There's also not much substance to his complaints beyond, "This game has bugs! And why are they making me pay to play an Imperial?!"
There are a lot of issues he points out that I flat out have never seen, and they're nowhere near as game breaking as he makes them seem.

Yeah, like that one early Covenant one where you have to choose between destroying an artifact or keeping it for your faction. I destroyed it and at first it seemed like it was a meaningful decision. Half the group of NPCs I was with wanted to keep it, including the shipmaster who I relied on for transport, but as soon as the quest was completed she took me to the next quest hub anyway.
Sidequestion: is the entire Covenant line really boring or is it just me? I never made it to vet content. Maybe I would have enjoyed questing more if I started in Ebonheart or something.

I'm Ebonheart and have found the quests maybe 50% interesting... meaning I skip about half the dialogue and listen to the other half on average.
The first real zone for Ebonheart is depressing as hell though, just ash, rock, and big ass volcano. Really not a fun place to wander around for your first big area.
It feels more like a zone you would put 3/4 of the way through a game, when you want to show some striking visuals but also have an audience that's invested and doesn't mind hours of bleakness.

Last time I played, at Veteran 1, running through town. Pick up a quest... "SO YOU WANNA BECOME ONE OF THE UNDAUNTED!?"
My only option for reply "WHAT'S THE UNDAUNTED?"
While I have one of their skills on my bar.
That kind of sloppy writing really bothers me.
I guess is keeps the Elder Scrolls vibe, like when you walk around town all badass Archmage Master of Thieves Assassin Man and some dude is like "HEY PEASANT, GO FIND MY DAD'S SHIELD AND I'LL GIVE YOU 5 MONEY!"
Gelston
05-14-2014, 03:46 PM
I don't think the VR1-VR10 levels were originally planned. When you beat the differences alliances you get a level 50 quest reward, even the last alliance, whereas everything you find in the alliances are VR items. It really seems like something added in at the last minute when they realized 1-50 was so fast. That being said, there are a *few* times that you get more speech options in the Vet content.
That being said, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It is an MMO, and one of the biggest things in MMO is continuing your character and getting better gear.
Remember, this game is barely over a month old. They are adding a Vet 10-12 Adventure zone soon, and I can't help but imagine they'll add an alternate Vet leveling area (other than PvP) to doing the other alliance quests at some point. They said on their AMA that they plan to add lower level quests and not just endgame content with future content patches/expansions.

This weekend was Quakecon, and ESO held a panel to discuss upcoming releases and tweaks. Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LkeMacg-b0
Highlights!
- PVP in the Imperial City, including taking control of various zones and fighting in the Arena
- fixes to grouping so it's much easier to team up with friends and not have them show up in a different instance
- group dungeons scaling to the level of the group leader, and delves that dynamically adjust to the player's ability
- a working justice system where players can go on theft and murder sprees, but can also enact their own justice if they see a crime being committed
- spellcrafting!
- new PVE adventure zones, including one for group PVE and one for solo PVE
- teases of new armor and weapon styles, including Daedric Imperial, Glass, Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild
- better facial animations to match spoken dialogue
- revamping post-50 content, replacing veteran ranks with champion ranks that give points that can be spent for account-wide passives

Another thing to note, if you buy it before it is non-sub based, you get 30 days of game time free. If you were to get it 30 days or less before it goes subless, you'll basically start a month earlier. Also, any days left over on the sub carry over to their ESO plus membership.

I know (according to Zeni) it wasn't directly hindering their other games, but maybe they'll get cracking on Fallout 4 and the next Elder Scrolls now. It's been 3+ years since Skyrim.
That said, I'll probaby go romp around for a while in ESO, I already bought the game anyway. I'm sure it will be entertaining until they slam me against a pay wall and convince me to stop again, like most F2P's.

Well, they are releasing ESO on XB1 and PS4 soon too. Maybe after that they'll go into developing other things more heavily.
The only "paywall" I can see them doing is the DLC one. While you are a plus subscriber, all DLC is free. If you drop out of a Plus sub, you can no longer do the DLC. You can also buy the DLC in their Crown Market thing they are making, so you'd have it forever like that too.

I hadn't played since shortly after launch, so I gave this another shot and was pleasantly surprised. The One Tamriel stuff alone makes it feel more like a proper TES game, but being able to pick pockets and sell stolen goods to fences is some of the most satisfying shit I've ever encountered in an MMO. There are a large number of issues with devs over balancing the game. Morrowind update looks really bad for stamina builds. One Tamriel made the game more accessible but the game is pretty much on auto pilot for solo content with it being incredibly easy to do. And the issues with builds doesn't really affect solo content either. I'm not much of a group PvE player just due to my limited time to play. I don't need to have crazy kids screaming at me on TS/Discord because my sustained DPS isn't 30k. So I just gank people in PvP.

I've never really cared much for PvP in any of the games I play. I've only ever done it, begrudgingly, in SWTOR to get valor ranks because they decided to tie frickin Stronghold decorations to that.
WoW pvp was pretty fun for awhile.

I've been questing and exploring much the same way I would a single player TES game while playing Ashlander Barbie on my Dunmer Dragonknight, which is about the extent of my willingness to RP in graphical MMOs these days. I don't think I've ever had a good experience with those communities. The dungeons are a lot of fun, though. I've been rocking a dual-wield stamina build that seems to be pretty effective for now. Who knows whether I'll even still be playing when Morrowind and the Stamina changes come along.

I've RP'd fairly extensively in ESO. It is a bit of a shock at first, when coming from text based, because you are paying attention to both graphics and text, but eventually you get the hand of it. There are some good and bad groups there, and some people are snobby as hell. Either way, check out http://www.eso-rp.com/ . There are guild listings and events and stuff. You don't need to join a guild though, plenty of stuff you can do solo if you want to join in or just watch a little. It can be annoying due to the different instances, so sometimes you have to switch around a little to find them.

Randomly got a closed beta invite for Morrowind. It says I can't talk about gameplay though. :( Anyone else get one?

So, I decided to stream myself playing this stuff.

I'm not going to be doing much of amazement, just me randomly playing the game.

Gonna have to step his game up more than that. Methais streams himself playing drums in his tighty-whities.

It is pretty great. the Psijic Storyline is some pretty good writing. I haven't finished it yet, because I opted to create an entirely new character.

Should try Guild Wars 2. I don't really listen to storylines so I don't know if it's any good, but the combat and boss fights are fun and different from other big MMOs.
Also f2p.

I play that also. I have all the expansions too, but that'll be next week.
ESO is technically B2P. you don't need to pay for anything past the initial game.

Just got back into it this past weekend and started doing fractals. So far its been some good fun.
I tried ESO when it first came out and it just didn't seem like my cup of tea. Has it changed a bunch?

Drastically. It can't really describe short of a novel the changes that were made.

I may give it a shot once I get bored with GW2 then.

If you already have the base game, just a one month sub gives you access to all the DLC short of Summerset, so Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Morrowind, and all the dungeons and crap associated with those. So it is worth it to do it for a month to check them out. Two new zones were announced at E3 also. They are definitely on their way to filling in all of Tamriel.
The outfit system is probably on par with, or exceeds, GW2 now also.

90% of them have a certain 'scrawny guy with giant torso and a bucket on his head' quality. Plus a lot of it looks painted on and they love their floaty hip armor.

Yeah, a lot of that shit is gone. Some still has the hip shit, but a lot doesn't.
The scrawny guy shit is just how you decide to make your character look. A lot of people do tiny waists with massive torsos.
Outfitting and all that has come a loooong way.

I think I tried this game out awhile back how’s the grind and loot system? I’m not a huge fan of dailies in order to stay relevant

No grind at all. All content on the world is scaled to your level so the gear is relevant. Once you get to 50 you start gaining champion points to further advance stats. Those max at 810 but the max for gear is 160. Once you get the gear you want, it will stay relevant unless the meta changes. You can target the pieces you want by running the dungeons/raids/crafting.
PVP is separate of course. But there are both Battlegrounds and a Faction combat zone where your battle for keeps/castles/elder scrolls that is a lot of fun too.

I see the max is 810, why do I see people with more than that? Special events?4

You can have more but anything over 810 count for nothing more than Epeen. Some day they may raise the cap but they have no current plans for it. They are afraid of power creep.

I wish I could appreciate ESO more. Overall it's a solid game. I particularly enjoyed the story elements and it has some cool ideas on class design. It's also action combat, which I prefer to MMOs like FFXIV and WoW, where you tend to just stand there trading hits with opponents until one or the other runs out of health. What kills it for me is the combat feel. The mandatory cancel casting looks and feels bad as do movement and hit-detection in general. I'm not sure why they couldn't get this right, but it ruins an otherwise good game for me.
I'm currently re-trying FFXIV and still stuck on my old mainstay GW2, but I am finding FFXIV really difficult to stick with also because of the combat. 2.5s GCD and too many long, rooted channels. This just doesn't feel good to me. Hopefully one of these upcoming MMOs like New World or AoC will get it right. If not, GW2 has a new expansion coming at least!

They added companions now. They are pretty cool and fairly customizable. The amount of content that has been put out since release is just staggering.
